A terrific choice for those who prefer to be near the major attractions of Athens. The close proximity of the Divani Palace Acropolis to the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus makes the decision to stay here a slam dunk. Our party stayed on the second floor which featured a decent sized room with balcony view of the small, but... More

My room overlooked the Acropolis ruins which was the best part of my stay - I sat on the balcony everyday and marvelled at this piece of ancient history. I'll never forget that experience and look forward to going back there, one day... Plenty of shops and restaurants within a walking distance of the hotel

We really enjoyed our stay at the divani palace. The staff was lovely and recommended a great restaurant the first night when we got in late. The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Their rooftop restaurant is delicious and has a great view of the Acropolis. We would definitely stay here again!

My wife and another couple spent 3 nights at the Divani Palace Acropolis. Given its very reasonable price and being in the heart of Athens, I had my reservations on what we may find when we got to our rooms late at night. I couldn't have been more happy. The rooms were very clean and modern and I found it... More

We arrived from the airport by taxi, did not have to touch our suitcases, staff on reception were very helpful, and informative, and answered all our questions, we went to the pool bar downstairs for lunch and drinks, which impressed us, But the "Acropolis Secret" Restaurant Roof Garden..Bar-Restaurant offering a lavish dinner, drinks and cocktails with a breathtaking view of the... The hotel is ideally located near the Acropolis and the new Acropolis museum and steps away from the Plaka, where you can find lots of restaurants and shops. The best restaurant however, is the one located on the hotel's roof. They serve delicious food and you can enjoy a beautiful view on the Acropolis at night (absolutely magic!) The hotel... More

The hotel has been refurbished, the personnel is truly kind and pay attention to the clients. We spent here two nights after a vacation in the cyclades and they offered us a four bed (plus 1) room at the fourth floor for a competitive price (we have three children and it not always easy to find smart accommodation solution). The... More

The staff was wonderful. Very clean and nicely decorated. Walking distance to two different pedestrian streets of great food and shops. Very metro and walking friendly location. It was the first stop of many on a backpacking trip for me and we got a deal and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel

We stayed here for one night and were not disappointed; it was everything you would expect from a five-star hotel in a prime city location. However, with many people trying to check in as early as 11:30am, checking out was a long drawn out process during which staff acted as tour advsers for several new guests ahead of us. nice... More

We have travelled extensively and this was our first visit Athens. We researched the hotels and TripAdvisor comments and were not disappointed. This is a great Greek owned hotel chain, busy with bus groups yes... but they leave early and leave the place to you The staff are wonderful, friendly and welcoming. We cannot say enough about George in the... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
