It was a good location near the airport and near the famous landmark the acropolis. I enjoyed how they decorated the lobby with giant chocolate Easter eggs. Technically you cant eat the Easter eggs but i did.....

The staff was great, everyone from the receptionist (Mrs. Lefki) to the people taking care of breakfast. A very good location to see all the sight. Had a great time just walking around the different parts of the city. With the city transportation being just around the corner made travel that much easier.

The location is outstanding with all major attractions within a walking distance e.g. Acropolis, Plaka etc all with in 10 - 15 min walk. The rooms were good sized. However, these were the only positives. The walls between the rooms were very thin and we were disturbed by the snoring noises in the adjacent rooms. Furthermore, the food at the... More

Stayed for two nights whilst on business in Athens. The hotel is approximatley 30mins in a taxi from the airport. Expect to pay 35-40 euros. There is not a shuttle bus from the Airport. The hotel is very clean. We ate in the bar area that offered a fairly limited menu, however the food was good. The hotel offers itself... More

The location of this hotel is excellent, you couldn't find better. The acropolis is a very short walk up the hill. The room was clean but dated in appearance, and the bathroom was not quite clean enough and was a bit shabby. I overheard someone who was complaining at reception about their room, saying that it was not up to... More

This is obviously a place that must a have been a grand five star hotel in other times. Now it´s a bit outdated, but still the service is good, the receptionists speak English, the room was spacious and had a nice view of the Acropolis. The bed was comfortable, housekeeping was very good. The location is the best: two blocks... More

The rooms were clean and the staff were extremely accommodating. We were able to walk easily to the Acropolis, Plaka and other parts of town. I don't think it is worth paying more for a room with a view of the Acropolis. There was a sufficient variety of food for breakfast. It was too cold to use the pool. Highly... More

We spent four weeks in the Greek islands and returned to this hotel for 6 days before we headed back to the states. We didn't feel we'd given Athens enough time on our last trip to Greece, and were very glad we did so this time around. It is now my favorite city in the world. We spent a lot... More

I found this hotel on TripAdvisor. My overall rating is very good. I would have rated it excellent except the hotel restaurant was below par in my estimation. There are great dining options within a short distance from this hotel that have more value and better food for the money. Location, location is this hotels main attraction, in my view.... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
