Electra Palace is an excellent 5-star hotel in Athens. Very convenient location - short walk to Syntagma, monastiraki (markets and restaurants), acropolis and museum. Most areas can be reached on foot, and the metro is also within easy reach. I took a taxi from the airport (fixed fare) rather than using the metro to get to the hotel/ I stayed... More

Perfect location. Acropolis views. Great service. Rooftop pool and restaurant. We stay here every time in Athens and love it. All I can say is try it. We got upgraded to a superior room. All rooms nice but terrace overlooking Parthenon perfect. The pool is heavenly.

Really good hotel with a pool for relaxing after walking around Athens all day seeing the sites. Hotel ideally situated for exploring the many sites in Athens. You might pay a little extra but no need for taxis/bus or use of the metro if Staying here in Plaka.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Electra Palace. It is an old classic style hotel, that is beautifully appointed. There is a lovely rooftop restaurant with spectacular views of the Acropolis, where we dined on our final night. We found Athens to be very walkable, and the location of the hotel, in the Plaka area, makes it convenient for sightseeing... More

We have stayed with Electra hotels before and were not disappointed with the Electra Palace in Athens. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff from the moment we arrived to the evening we left. Staff were helpful with tips on how much taxis should cost.

We were staying at this hotel in the second half of April 2015. Its location is excellent, very central, beneath the Acropolis, a hundred meters to the main shopping area in Plaka, the Agora Syntagma, the souvenir shops and also the Acropolis is in walking distance. Very nice and safe neighbourhood full of tourists. The hotel itself is also very... More

A central hotel in Athens very close to many shopping streets and historic places. The service is very good and the personnel are very helpful. The view from the bar/restaurant is very nice! I just wish that my room had that view as well. The rooms are nice and just enough big. So far this hotel matches it's five stars.... More

We stayed post cruise for 2 days at the hotel. It's centrally located to Las Ramblas and the Acropolis with just a short walk to each. The staff were very professionally. Enjoyed the spacious room. The best amenity was the rooftop pool and very good restuarant. We would stay here again

This hotel was perfect. The service was as expected. The free breakfast was an added plus in the morning. The spa was 4****'s. Close to everything. Rooftop dinner was also memorable, especially with the view of the Acropolis, wow.

Restaurants, shopping and tourist attractions are right around the corner from this very comfortable hotel. The room was clean and had everything you would expect from a hotel of this class. Do not miss the roof top pool, with a view of the Acropolis!

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
