We chose the Electra Palace for its central location and reputation. We were greeted cordially and shown to our two adjacent rooms. The traditional decor was attractive both in the public spaces and our rooms. The beds were comfortable and the complimentary WiFi slow but adequate (there is faster service available for a fee). We liked having a small private... More

This is a fine hotel. Great position (Acropolis) and in the heart of the Plaka. The pool has stunning views of Athens and Parthenon. Free wifi and breakfast fit for a king. I paid twice as much for other hotels in Athens but this was much better in all facets. I can highly recommend

I was in Athens for a conference and this hotel was listed on the conference hotel list. I spent 5 nights here and was very happy I did. A very comfortable hotel, with courteous and efficient staff and a great place to relax after a long, hot day treading the fantastic sights of Athens. The rooftop restaurant and pool are... More

The Electra Palace is in a marvelous location - really couldn't be more central to Athens. We were upgraded to a very nice suite but it had a strong mildew odor that had obviously been "covered" with antiseptic when we checked in. When we inquired about fixing it we were told they'd never been aware of such a problem, which... More

The views of the Acropolis were fantastic and the location of the hotel was convinent to shopping and restaurants. The rooms are nothing special but are clean. The walls are paper thin and any noise in the halls can be easily heard. The food at the restaurant was expensive and barely average. The wait staff were rude especially at the... More

This hotel is really fantastic. It's very elegant, the rooms are very comfortable, and the location can't be beat. The pool really is right under the acropolis, with a poolside restaurant and bar to boot. It's a great place to return to after a long hot day of trekking up and down the ruins. The food in the restaurant was... More

LOVED the rooftop view from the pool area. Can't beat it, especially at night. The room was great, and the staff very helpful and pleasant. And the location made it easy to get anywhere we wanted to go, mostly by walking.

3 Adults in the family stayed at the Electra Palace hotel and generally it was excellent. The only issue I had was that the booking page made the suite sound as though there was a separate master bedroom and this was not true. The suite is basically a triple with a small sofa bed for a child, lucky the 3rd... More

The far best attribute of Electra Palace is location - it could not be better! It differs from other 5-star hotels because of the nice homey atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. We got a Superior room with an Acropolis view and balcony. Our room was 519, the last in the row, closest to Acropolis and the top... More

We just returned from Greece spending the last evening at Electrra Palace. This is our 5th visit and each has been top notch. The rooms felt fresh, the service was great and everything runs like clockwork. We upgraded to a Junior Suite which was well worth it. The entry level rooms are very small and efficient and get the job... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
