Five days in Athens were enjoyable, memorable and classy because of the Electra Palace hotel and the hotel's recommended driver tour guide George Koufopoulos. The hotel's location is unbeatable: in walking distance of most significant historical sites and shopping streets. Staff was always helpful and friendly.George's drives through Athen's neighborhoods, north to Delphi, and south to Poseidon's temple were informative... More

I just returned from Greece yesterday and have nothing but raving comments about my stay at the Electra Palace Hotel in Athens as well as the guided tour provided by George Koufopoulos. My husband and I booked a tour with George during our stay in Athens. He took us to sites that regular tours don't visit and was very knowledgeable... More

Took my dad for his 70th birthday and it was great for our family trip. The location is so central and the view is unreal! The included breakfast buffet was great and dinner in the upstairs dining room was amazing food with an unreal view! The rooms are small but very efficient and clean. The staff are amazing. And there's... More

This hotel was beautiful and in the heart of the Plaka district. Easy access to all things Athens. The staff was wonderful and catered to our every need. The breakfast was outstanding. Balcony view of the Acropolis is a must. The only thing lacking was a treadmill but there was a nearby park to run in. Perhaps they have a treadmill... More

Staying here is like coming home- my favorite place to stay in Athens. This classic hotel excellently located a short walk from all the "must see" sights has a tranquil garden, roof top pool and amazing views of the acropolis. Service is helpful and friendly without being over the top. Whilst the cuisine at the roof top restaurant is excellent... More

Perfectly located hotel for accessing the best of what Athens has to offer! Amazing view of the Acropolis from the pool deck, restaurant and above on the main roof. Rooms were very comfortable and the food was excellent. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful.

This was the second time that we chose the Electra Palace while visiting Athens! The location of this hotel simply cannot be beaten. It is situated right at the edge of the "Plaka" in a quiet street (a bit hidden) and in walking distance to the Akropolis and its new museum ( 15 min. perhaps?) and also close to the... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
