The rooms are small, but the staff is nice, and the location is perfect. You are within walking distance of the New Acropolis Museum, the Plaka, and close to the Acropolis. The breakfast was certainly adequate. Also we enjoyed two dinners at The Point, their new rooftop restaurant just a block away.

Dear Linda3649 There are times when something precious may come in a small size: and this is surely the case with PHILIPPOS Hotel. We are very happy to know that during your stay with us you visited the Roof Top Restaurant at HERODION, our sister property hotel, with the amazing view and enjoyed dinner seated at just 289m from the... Nice and helpful personnel help to make this hotel a very good choice for travellers. The room that I got on the seventh floor had an amazing view. The room was good and the bed was quite OK but the bathroom was extremely small. It worked, but was very small. The breakfast was ok and the price was reasonable. Very... More

Dear SpikesWe “… a very good choice for travelers …” this sounds a very just description of PHILIPPOS hotel; we thank you for your feedback! Many guests come particularly for the room of the seventh floor as its small size is counter acted by the private terrace with chaises longues and the undisturbed full view of the Acropolis. More

This was a great hotel for our family trip to Athens. The location is very close to the Acropolis and other sight seeing spots. Although make sure to locate the hotel before you arrive since we had a time finding it on foot once we left the metro. It is very close to the metro so we were able to... More

This hotel has all the basics. It is not fancy but is very practical. Rooms are tired looking but clean and the beds are comfortable. Our room was 3 doors down from the reception so we thought it would be noisy but not at all. Breakfast is basic. The hotel is in a quiet area but very close to all the... More

my daddy and I had a very happy time staying at Philippos Hotel (Athens). we're kinda lucky when our room was with a small bite of Acropolis hill. we enjoyed our repeat visit to Acropolis hill, Temple of Zeus and Plaka daily 'cos they are just a short walk away from the hotel. its must-try traditional yoghurt with honey could... The location of the hotel is perfect: in a nice neighborhood, approx. 2 minutes by foot from the nice walkway which surrounds the Acropolis and 1 minute more from Plaka. Big big plus: We had a huge terrace with 2 deck chairs, a table and... an amazing view on the Acropolis (from the bathroom as well). Our 5 years old... More

right next to the acropolis museum, easy access by metro, very clean, very friendly staff, rather simple breakfast. rooms are small so a couple with heavy luggage hardly fits. rooms in very good shape but not soundproof. very bad wi-fi connection. descent choice for the area of acropolis.

Right next to the Acropolis, it's hard to find a better location. Price was very reasonable and rooms small but clean. Breakfast solid Greek continental with ham, yogurt, fruits, hard boiled eggs etc. Nice reasonable coffee shops and restaurants close by. Very solid mid range choice for Athens

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
