Stayed here for 1 week, first 2 nights on road side, far too noisy from traffic around. The air conditioning was not enabled in March so we had to sweat. Nights were very uncomfortable with the traffic noise and hot stuffy room. The bed linen and towels were 'over perfumed'. Management moved us to back overlooking Acropolis which is a... More

I'm Greek and I visit Athens every year, and the Athens Gate Hotel is by far my favorite hotel to stay at. I often used to stay at the Grand Bretagne, but I now much prefer the Athens Gate.

The staff spoke native or highly fluent English; they were swift and friendly and efficient. They described how the electronics work, and gave excellent directions on how to use the Metro and avoid/minimize Greek taxi rides. They are near the major tourist attractions and restaurants. I will definitely stay there on my next trip to Athens

Why would you stay anywhere else? Absolutely brilliant. The staff were wonderful, special mention about John & Marco. We had a meal in the restaurant on the first night, terrific. The location was ideal. The room, with balcony overlooking The Temple of Zeus, was clean and comfortable. Athens was a joy and the Athens Gate Hotel made it even better.

I stayed in the Athens Gate for 4 nights in February 2009. Room 613. My experience was very pleasant, and would highly recommend this hotel from various angles. Undoubtedly, I will stay here again, versus other "name" brand hotels in Athens that charge much more for no incremental positives. Give the Athens Gate a serious look when planning your visit.... We stopped there for 2 nights on our way to Aegean Sea for honeymoon. We made an excellent choice choosing this hotel because the location is excellent, walking distance to subway station and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. On February 6th we held our yearly classmates' dinner party at the roof garden restaurant. The organisation and service were excellent, the food delicious and the view, just under the illuminated Acropolis a pure dream! All ladies had a most enjoyable evening and are willing to repeat it!
