I was a woman on my own and having arrived at the Omonia metro station spent some time trawling about seedy streets where police with truncheons were much in evidence before I found the locked glass doors of the hotel. They opened at once when the lovely receptionist saw me trying to get in and not looking like one of... more

As with other reviews, the area of this hotel is in a very scary area. I would not recommend this hotel for women, seniors or the unadverturous. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Do not arrive after sundown. more

The extra money to stay in Hotel Pythagorion is worth it. Although this hotel is fine, by comparison it doesn't have the same sense of comfort. However, this is a run-of-the mill Best Western, containing clean, standard rooms with everything you could need. The only big problem was the thickness of the walls – someone knocked on a door down... more

I am Greek and I lived in Athens for years so I know what I am talking about. Omonoia had cleaned up in the 1990s but now its back where it was in the 1980s. Seedy, full of nasty looking people and drug addicts. This does not mean that it is unsafe as similar areas in Paris or London. It... more

Hotel is clean and friendly, a good breakfast and friendly knowledgable staff. Room was perfectly adequate for a short stay and the bathroom was a typical european size! The area around the hotel is less celubrious but interesting if you are a people watcher! It is in a poor area of athens just off omonia square, but the people there... more

The hotel its self is typical for the price in Europe. However the neighborhood is dirty, seemingly unsafe, and extraordinarily difficult to navigate. It is advisable to take taxis to any location away from the hotel, which negates the value of the stay. Each time we told a local where we were staying, they demanded to know who put us... more

On reading the reviews about this hotel I was somewhat apprehensive so I will summarise our experience HOTEL Couldn't ask for more, nice and warm room ( they turned the heating up for us!)and a great breakfast with a really good selection. Great location 5 minutes to Omonia Square and 20 tp Plaka and the Acropolis Great Receptionists just ask... more

Hotel is located in a somewhat seedy part of the city although this is not immediately obvious as the hustle and bustle of the business day hides it well. Later it is less pleasant, and my friend and I were a little nervous about leaving our wives to wander alone when we had an engagement elsewhere one evening. Hotel itself... more

This was the third leg of an extended graduation trip my father and I took. I would like to start off by saying that I am confused as to why so many people found themselves threatened by the street the hotel was on. We went to a few late dinner shows, and found ourselves coming back at 12 or 1... more

Tiny rooms yet clean. BUT Unsafe neighbourhood - definitely not safe to walk outside after dusk & no inside social/lounge area except breakfast space. We had an overnight stay before a cruise & were returning at the end of the vacation for 2 days - after returning from Plaka at dusk, we immediately contacted the travel agent & insisted on... more
