Booked this hotel for overnight stay before starting to Cyckades trip, occasionally spent two nights here. Quality of the hotel is good, all facilities like AC, hot water, WiFi are in place. Excellent location both for transport and must-see places. What we noticed is that room prices differ a lot depending of the booking system. We booked every night separately,... More

This hotel had the most wonderful and helpful staff that I have seen in a long time. We were a large group and their patience and help in making changes was above and beyond. All staff pitched in to do what needed to be done and were always happy and pleasant. Georgos and Vasilis at the desk and Panayiotis at... More

Not gonna sugarcoat it. This was a very nice hotel. It did have a haunted part to it. There are two buldings. One 7th floor has a beautiful balcony while the other balcony looks like a horror film. Wifi was okay and the rooms were fair. Service was outstanding and the location sucked because of the graffiti and we were... More

This hotel will not win any awards but for the price the family room is a pragmatic cost effective solution and of an acceptable standard. The hotel is walking distance (15mins) from Plaka and the bottom of the Acropolis hill so great for the tourist areas. We used it as a transition hotel from a flight to a ferry the... More

Location was really good, 20 minute walk from Syntagma, next to the Archaeological museum, maybe a bit too close to the authentic Athens for some (close-by the well-known amongst Athens youth "stoner square") but that meant the restaurants in close vicinity were brilliant value and not too touristy. Staff nice and helpful, rooms clean and beds comfy. Balcony all around... More

Wow, this is a long overdue review for the hotel but all I can say is that it was really great finding this hotel when I did. Not only the location was perfect but the staff, the room and breakfast were wonderful. Prices were more than reasonable, considering the present situation of the country, my stay at this hotel was... More

I was disappointed when I arrived late at night at my pre booked hotel the Best Western Pythagorian to be told I had been moved to the Museum property. Once I arrived I wasn't thrilled with the room which has two tiny singles and a shower that washes the whole bathroom. That being said, the staff have been helpful and... More

Located about 5 minutes from the centre it was a good central choice. Family room was spacious enough but very uncomfortable beds, pillows and breakfast was not delicious. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Needs renovating. There are better hotels for your money.

During my stay in Athens and in Greece at all, I noticed that hotels under 5 stars are having the same class. So during my short 2 days stay in Athens I chose Best Western as I know the chain of these hotels in my hometown in Armenia. To be honest I was dissapointed with the hotel. Tiny breakfasts, narrow... Really liked this hotel - friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast for 6 euros, nice little bar area with free orange juice, pretty roof garden - although no bar - with great views of Athens. Our room had a huge balcony attached and the room itself was clean, neutrally decorated and comfortable. We only paid £99 (146 euros) for the two... More

Staying in Exarchia

Neighborhood Profile
Exarchia
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
