The location is great as it is very close to Syntagma Square and Plaka District. The rooms are comfortable, even if not very big. The bathroom and its amenities are fantastic. There is a nice terrace on the 8 floor where worth having a drink while overlooking at Athens. Service is very straightforward.

When you enter this hotel for the first time, it can be disturbing. I live in Poland and there is a place there called Czarna Gora in Czestachowa where Catholic fundamentalists go to display bizarre devotional rituals. The walls of the chapel are covered with crutches, leg casts, rosary beads and other disturbing devotional offerings, placed there by no doubt... More

I was incredibly impressed by the room. Best blackout shades EVER. Super sleek and trendy, and you are surrounded by wonderful restaurants and the important landmarks. The staff was also very nice. This would have been a 5-star rating if not for the extremely poor air conditioning. Despite turning the thermostat as low as it would go, the room *never*... More

Great, modern hotel in the middle of the Plaka. Good shopping and restaurants and bars all very close. Funky, modern decorating in the lobby and rooms. Very clean lobby and rooms and friendly doormen. Water and chocolates in the lobby. The breakfast was yummy but the best part is the roof top bar over looking the Acropolis. At night with... More

We have been to Athens several times on holiday before and on our last trip we walked past New Hotel and loved the look of it. This time we stayed there for four nights in a junior suite (three of us including our two year old). We loved it. He loved it, especially the art. The rooms were cool. The... More

As we walked up to this hotel, we thought "oh god, what have we booked?", as it didn't look particularly amazing from outside. But wow, were we wrong. This hotel is stunning and has so much character. The service was brilliant (it's the type of hotel that leaves a chocolate on your pillow before bed), the rooms beautiful (really nice... More

This was a great find. Just outside the Placa, the ancient area around the Acropolis, and next to Greece's parliament. Small hotel wonderfully appointed. We booked a studio room which was a corner room with a balcony. Bright and airy. Roof top restaurant with great food and wine list and a friendly staff. Everything we wanted. The only issue was... I spent another few days at the New Hotel in April and June and never tire of returning here. The rooms are great, the staff consistently professional and friendly and the breakfast and the restaurant are second to none in Athens. The Hotel is close to the must-see sights and within walking distance of other restaurants...Always a pleasure!

We stayed several nights at New Hotel and due to flight delays, we kept coming back for more royal treatment! The location is very convenient to all the main attractions in Athens and walking distance to some great restaurants. The staff was unbelievably accommodating and looked out for our security. Highly recommend New Hotel!

I booked this hotel through jetsetter.com for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. We could not have been happier with the decision! The staff was really attentive, but completely inconspicuous. The location was central and conveniently walkable to all major downtown sites. The room was large, clean, modern, nicely appointed, and had one of the most comfortable beds I've... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
