The Periscope is a very nice hotel in a great section of Athens. It is walking distance to most of the key sightseeing attractions, the neighborhood is safe and right for walking and strolling. Breakfast is excellent. The rooms are small but nicely appointed. The rooms lack sufficient electrical outlets to plug in various paraphernalia such as computers, iPads, and... More

Very nice quiet room, no view but great bed, nice bathroom. Very friendly staff which tries to help you with every request. Good location in a nice quarter with man bars and restaurants. If you don't stay a lot of time in your room during the day, it is perfect.

In the heart of Athens, a bit noisy but with big and clean rooms. The Network connection was not too bad, and the staff was nice. The bet thing, from my point of view, is the restaurant: the menu at the lunch is amazing and the buffet at breakfast is quite good for starting the day. The staff at restaurant... More

It is very nicely located in the posh area of Athens . Close to excellent museums ( Benaki and others ) , with many restaurants and bars where Athenians go , you live Athens out of the traditional and crowded touristic areas. When you go back to your hotel from Plaka you feel you are back home and u like... More

Very nice and very "design" hotel at the center of Athens. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It is also well located and you can walk from there to the nearest attractions (parliamant, Ermou street, etc.)

Positives: Great staff - friendly, helpful and attentive; Very, very clean; Great breakfasts - best I've had in Athens, with really good quality ingredients - in fact, best morning "koulouri" we had and as for the smoked salmon...absolutely delectable! Also loved the decor in the room, especially the ceiling wall-paper that was an aerial photo of the area of Athens.... More

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighborhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighborhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
