This hotel is the only place I'd consider staying in Athens old town area. A little hard to find initially from the metro station, but a couple of very nice people helped us. Beautiful views , nice room even without a view, beds, pillows good. Very good location. Breakfast was great!! Such a variety to select from hot/cold dishes. The... More

i was given excellent advice to maximise my limited time in Athens. the hotel is ideally situated close to the metro station and plaka district. thanks to the directions given I was able to visit the Accropolis and its excellent museum before lunch time and my onward trip to Kalamata.

We stayed at the Plaka Hotel in early April, 2015 for 6 nights and had a wonderful experience. The room was spacious and well maintained. The included breakfast was excellent. The staff was extremely attentive to all our needs and helped making reservations for restaurants, airport taxi, arranging for laundry at incredibly low prices and any other request we made.... My wife and I recently stayed in the Plaka Hotel in Athens for my birthday. The hotel is wonderfully positioned in the centre of the city and is surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants. The walk from the tube/ Metro stop that connects the blue line with the airport is a leisurely 5 minutes walk away. Athens is a great... More

This is a fabulous hotel to stay at. Centrally located so you’re close to ALL sights, the shopping, the restaurants and the night life. The staff can’t do enough for you with a special mention going to “service with a smile” Tasos, “nothing is a problem” Maria and “always by your side” Mikael. Reaching the hotel from the airport is... More

This is a really good hotel from every aspect. The rooms are great, the views are wonderful and the staff lovely. The location is perfect as we could walk in the Plaka at night after sightseeing all day without a trek to the hotel I have nothing negative to say. We will definitely be coming again.

This hotel would be a good choice if you want something within walking distance of the major tourist sites. Front desk staff is very helpful. Rooftop bar had THE view of the Acropolis, great place to finish up a long day of sightseeing. Rooms Euro small and simple but clean and serviceable. Excellent value.

The plaka hotel is wonderful. A great location for all sightseeing and the top deck bar has an unsurpassable view of the Acropolis which only gets better at night. Breakfast is great and there is a person who comes around to your table each morning to see if they can assist in tour planning and details. Fantastic. We have never... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
