Stayed here while on a city break a lovely hotel in a quiet area. Very accommodating staff, comfortable rooms and very high standards of cleanliness. Good variety for breakfast and a beautiful rooftop area overlooking the Acropolis. Would highly recommend booking this hotel.

I had chosen the Acropolis Hill because I wanted to be close to the Metro, the Acropolis Museum and Plaka. A few days before my arrival in Athens I emailed the hotel to confirm my prepaid booking but heard nothing from them. I arrived mid-afternoon and was informed that yes I had a confirmed reservation but they did not have... More

We chose this hotel from a BA deal for a good price for 4 nights. Unfortunately although being clean and having friendly staff the hotel is very average. The breakfast is pretty poor the toast was like eating cardboard. The rooms are modern but tiny! The bathrooms only have a shower but this is the worst constructed shower I've ever... More

With its perfect location, hotel is on a walking distance from the main sightseeing of the city. In front of the hotel there is small street where you can park your car free of charge. We've been accommodated on the 6th floor in a room with very nice city view and also quite one.

Hotel was part of a BA package for 3 nights. Room - small but adequate. Bed comfy, staff pleasant, breakfast is continental style and good quality. Shower in bathroom is a silly design - water floods out under the shower cubicle door onto the bathroom floor. We had to use goodness knows how many towels to mop up the floor... More

Greece is notorious for basic accommodation, though this hotel does exceed a three star expectation. Comfy beds, clean and newly refurbished. It has it's own little bar serving bottles, teas, coffee, etc. and the breakfast restaurant is more than adequate. This hotel only does breakfast. With being perhaps only two or three miles from the view of the Acropolis from... More

Very close to two metro stations and a tram station. Situated at the base of the Hill of the Muses. Easy walking distance to either end of the Plaka. Rooms are small but all the more reason to be out and about in the city.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
