When I visited Hotel, the first impression was actually concerns of the area of market. But since I stayed, I would recommend this Hotel as the best Hotel I ever stayed even better than 5star Hotels. The staff member was really superb friendly and supportive. When I had problem with ATM, they took me around the machine nearby, when I... More

The very friendly, helpful staff really make this hotel wonderful! They promptly and professionally handled all our needs and concerns. One example: they had called a taxi for us, and the driver ended up charging us much more than the meter showed. I paid without arguing, but reported it to the hotel staff the next day so they would know.... More

Very clean hotel, don't let the market area put you off, it's very safe! The staff are brilliant, both friendly and helpful. Rooms are bright and well kept. Breakfast was unbelievable value, great! Rooftop bar another bonus. Great eating nearby in Psirri.

My partner and I have just got back From a long weekend in Athens. This is an absolutely lovely hotel situated in an ideal area, ten minutes from Monasteraki and the Acropolis, hidden down a little market street. Front doors open out onto a bustling fruit market. The rooms are simple but comfortable- cleaned everyday if you wish and all... More

Stayed 3 nights & loved the area. It's far enough away from the tourist area to feel like you're staying in a real Greek neighborhood, but still very walkable to all the sights. The hotel is located on the same street as the city market which we loved. You'd step out of the hotel front door & immediately be part... More

Dear alaking2005, We are delighted to read that you enjoyed the "real" Athenean neighborhood of our hotel and still be only 5-10 min walk from most sites and Monastiraki metro station with direct line to the airport and port. We thank you for highly recommending us. We are all looking forward seeing you again on a future trip to Athens. More

My family and I stayed here for two nights and while the rooms weren't fancy they were comfortable and suited our needs. The location in Plaka was good but more importantly reception staff, especially Olga, would bend over backwards to help us when we realised the weekend we had booked was Greek Orthodox Easter and many attractions would be closed.... We only stayed two nights and this hotel was in such a convenient location to most of the major sights and colorful neighborhoods. The rooftop has a spectacular view of the Acropolis. The room was tiny though, and the beds were stiff. The bathroom was tiny too and we got water EVERYWHERE when we showered. We stayed over the Easter... More

:-) Nice, clean, friendly staff. Good breakfast. Close, and well located hotel. Walking distance to major points of touristic interest (PLAKA, Archeological museum, Acropolis, National gardens, Parliament etc) :-( Dirty streets surroundings - outside the hotel. Air from AC foul smell, prompting for open window - resulting mosquito bites (april)

This is a good hotel if you wish to stay in the center of Athens. Even if you arrive by private car you can use it as there is a public garage (with reasonable prices) just in front of the hotel. The hotel is situated in front of the market (or even in the middle of the market) which adds... More

Staying in Omonia

Neighborhood Profile
Omonia
Omonia Square is as plain in appearance as Syntagma is grand. Surrounded largely by functional blocks from the 1950s and 60s and no longer boasting its underground stalls, the square is now mostly frequented by immigrants and bargain shoppers. The most rewarding area to explore is to the south. Set off down Athinas Street, with the Acropolis gradually coming into focus in the distance, and you will get a sense of old commercial Athens, especially at the picturesque meat, fish and vegetable markets some way beyond the City Hall. The blocks to the west of Athinas are home to many Chinese and South Asian traders, adding a multicultural atmosphere to what was until the late 1990s a very homogenous society.
