I have now stayed at the Viana Mar four times, in both double rooms, and by myself. They are very basic, but for 25 euros with bathroom, in an excellent location, it is a great deal if you are on a budget. The pension is right down the main street leading to the train and bus stations (3 minute walk), and in easy walking distance from everything in this beautiful, medieval city.
Rooms facing the rear get the afternoon sun, but are very quiet, and cool at night. Rooms facing the front have an excellent view of the main street, are very cool all day long, but not noisy at night (I am sensitive to noise, but have never been disturbed).
The family is very helpful and friendly, breakfast uninteresting, and rooms adequate,.
I now stay in expensive hotels, but will still stay here on my next visit. It is pefect for folks on a low budget.
