I have just returned from a very enjoyable weeks holiday with Newmarket Travel. The hotel was friendly and has recently undergone some extensive updating. It is extremely clean and has a very inviting swimming pool. Only downside is the mosquitoes due to the collecting of sea weed on the beech - so be prepared if you are likely to get... More

The hotel is right on the beach with the Atlantic rollers coming in. There is a lifeguard but with signs showing strong currents I just used the large hotel pool which was good. The refurbished rooms were pretty good, ours had twin beds in reasonable space, a good sized balcony overlooking the sea and a bathroom without bath but with... More

The hotel is a litle way out of Varzim but that is good; right on the beach. Ideal for children opr older couples very friendly and helpful staff. They made sure that everything they could do was done.to give a good stay. Food very plentyful a varied, wine very cost effective, especially when you see how many hotels 'rip one... More

I'm currently mid-holiday, and having a good time, but I have serious reservations that others considering this hotel might like to bear in mind. I'm here on a'Hidden Portugal' package from Newmarket Holidays as are most of the other residents, and I make these remarks as reflecting the experience offered by the package deal - independent travellers may be offered... A friendly and clean hotel. In desperate need of updating, apparently in the process of this. We were with Newmarket Travel with excellent tour guide and excursions . The food is poor, and should be much much better considering the excellent availability for local produce. Would have gone hungry if not had lunches out !

The hotel is right on a sandy beach on it's own and a rural location. From the outside the hotel looks good , inside some of the rooms are a little tired but are under a refurbishment programme. When completed I am sure it will be perfect. Food is fine and the young couple (Christina and husband) that run the... More

We loved the location on the beach, however the local town was a good 30 minute walk, we got taxis which were reasonable. The service from the family who run the hot was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome. Newmarket Holidays organisation was superb. Thanks Mary Ann who looked after us all week.

Excellent family-run hotel. Went with an organised party via Newmarket Travel and enjoyed this hotel enormously. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. The rooms were adequate though not sumptuous. Food excellent and lots of it. Location ideal for us - on the beach, but some might think it too remote. There were some bars and coffee shops... More

Excelent hotel for family leisure: situated at the sand dunes, with a friendly staff, outdoor swimming pool, good food ... enjoy this atmosphere at Póvoa de Varzim, only 20 minutes from the international Oporto airport.
