Porto is a city of contrast. Shiny and neat on one level and dilapidated and run down on another. Just take a walk around and glance up occasionally. Nestled in amongst this back drop is the friendly Hotel Pao de Acacur, with its famous stair case and delightful collection of retro memorabilia. Parking is a challenge in this part of... More

An excellent quirky hotel in a really convenient location close to transport links and within walking distance of all the sights. The room was huge (though we had been upgraded for some reason) and had a massive bed. The entrance makes it seem as if you are entering an office block but, once inside, there are lots of retro style... More

I stayed for one night and found the staff to be fantastic going out of their way to help navigate one's way round this really cool city. The room was more than adequate with excellent aircon and the hotel interior, although very dated, was quirky and unusual. The only reason that I deducted a star was for the breakfast which... More

Perfect location, few steps from metro and from Clerigos Church. Rooms are very very spacious, with nice and huge bed. Hotel itself is an attraction full of old stuff, toys, and furniture. The only thing is breakfast could be better with fresh fruits and eggs.

This hotel is great. I rooms are large and clean. The retro things around the hotel are funky and fun (bumper cars on each landing), and check out the collection in the hotel bar. The breakfast is good, great location and very helpful staff.

From my experience, staying at this hotel was one of the best things from my short trip to Porto. I will especially remember how friendly and nice was Claudia, the recepcionist, who helped us in anything we asked. I was also surprised by the good breakfast, especially as there were many different pastries and a very good orange juice. As... More

Some friends suggested this place because of the location. It is conveniently located, but that is probably the best thing about it. The rooms were a little small. A little bit musty and dated. The bathroom was tiny. The breakfast was included, it was ok, buns and breads and baked goods and jams. The retro antique decorations are kind of... More

When the taxi dropped us off my first reaction was "what have I got myself into!". The reception desk didn't help much either being wedged into a tiny hallway. But this is a case of under promising and over delivering. Once we were able to see the rooms all was well. Booked a "superior double room". It was large even... More

Booked this hotel mostly because of the value rating it got in Fodor's, so expected an average stay. First off, the entire staff is so friendly and helpful! Special callouts to Claudia and Marcelo who helped us each day plan our itinerary of what to do around Porto. My initial plans were so deadbeat compared to what they suggested and... More

Stayed here for four nights in May. Quirky hotel with antiques and even dodgem cars! amazing staircase! Customer service was excellent from all the staff, checking in and out easy too. Breakfast offered a variety of cakes, croissants, cereals, juice etc. Great location for seeing everything! Room was large with complimentary port and nibbles on arrival! Thanks! Really enjoyed the... More
