A small, friendly hotel, Sao Jose is very well positioned to explore Porto's old town and quayside - rooms are fine, little bit tired perhaps and I'd recommend having one that overlooks the street rather than one at the back -although light sleepers might disagree. We were driving south afterwards and Sao Jose has parking at c.15 euros for 24... More

Very nice hotel, just next to the city center. Metro station is 200m away. The staff wenn I came was very friendly, you can immdiately feel well. Breakfest was also good, the rooms clean and big enough. The price is very OK for such a type of hotel. I came from the cruise on Douro at 10 AM, but i... More

This hotel is ideally situated 200 metres from the metro (you don't need the metro whilst in the city though as the hotel is in walking distance of everything), the room was adequate for the price, and even had shower gel and soap which was unexpected as the room was cheap, breakfast was basic but good. The staff were very... More

Spent 2 days here and did not sleep well at all. Both nights we woke up due to a screaming baby or loud customers. The rooms are acoustically not isolated. We booked a double room, but at arrival we were told that only a twin was available.

We stayed here out of Season and were pleasantly surprised given some of the reviews found here. Our booking for a double room saw us allocated a twin, but this was soon rectified. Our welcome was not overwhelming but was certainly professional and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The rooms are very tired. We had what looks to... More

While dated, the hotel has character and is perfectly located for the main sights and close to Metro. Staff are very helpful and attentive. Fairly quiet except when other guests shout when coming in late. but that happens everywhere I guess.Air conditioning fairly quiet. Main objection was breakfast was very poor and lacking any variety. Supermarket breads and cakes and... More

The hotel is in a quiet area not far from the tourist centre and at first sight seemed just a little dated. However, the bathroom was very uncomfortable, water everywhere after taking a shower, wifi didn't work in the hotel room and the worst thing we found ants crawling all over the bed in the morning! Not the best place... More

This hotel in Porto was the 1st one of the 6 hotels where we stayed during our journey across Portugal. It is a standard hotel very well located, close to all sightseeings, in a walking distance (15 min) to the river and the quay. There is a metro station very close to the hotel. Very friendly staff, ready to support... More

This hotel is near the central area of Porto; the rooms are rather small but pleasantly furnished, and the reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking is rather expensive at 15 euro, but there is street parking available in the area, and is free from 8 pm to 8 am. There are no refrigerators in the rooms - apparently... More
