Marta is a gracious hostess, helped by Filipe. Porta Azul is across the street from a lovely park, close to all the wonderful sites in Porto, but best of all, Marta provides such a delightful welcome, and offers excellent suggestions of what to do and see. The property is immaculate and beautiful, and includes a wonderful garden area. Our room... More

This was our 1st wedding anniversary trip. The house is charming, the garden is beautiful, the rooms are cleverly constructed and the service is attentive, friendly and prompt. It's amazing how well aqcuainted with the city we were off the back of the iPad tour given on arrival. Breakfast was lovely and YES, grandma's daily baked cakes do warrant a... More

Marta and Filipa are perfect hosts. The building and rooms are spacy, clean with good beds, all one needs. The garden is briljant and a very welcome place to rest after visiting the city. Breakfast is very good in this price category with every day different extra's and grandmothers lovely cake. This was home in Portugal, we will be back.

Porta Azul is a lovely renovated building, with original features. Our room was bright and spacious with a modern bathroom hidden away! Breakfast is fresh and Marta (the owner) bakes a cake every day (one from her grandma's recipe). The garden is a beautiful little oasis with hammock and soft lounges (you can have your breakfast sitting out in the... More

A great welcome, some lovely touches like the personal welcome in the room, going through the map on day one & the recommendations to get the most out of your visit. The breakfast was plentiful and the cakes - already mentioned Marta's grandmothers cake!

We loved Porta Azul. Marta and Filipe were extremely helpful and friendly.Upon arrival, Filipe sat down with us with a map of Porto and made many suggestions for places to visit and eat. We were in a small room, overlooking the street, but no issues with noise. The B&B was in a convenient location for us, very clean, with a... More

We visited Porto last summer with friends and our stay in Porta Azul was one of the highlights of our trip. Cozy, charming, friendly, clean and tasty breakfast! Very special treat by the owners which will make you want come back!

You step into the cool hallway of Porta Azul from the hot street and immediately feel at peace. The sounds of the city streets melt away as the door closes. The interior is full of character, having been carefully renovated in recent years. There are interesting feature pieces of furniture, ceiling details, painted surfaces and coloured glass windows. Simple, tasteful... More

Superb both in terms of accommodation and location. On arrival we were instantly made to feel very welcome with a refreshing cuppa and a slice of Grandmas home made cake. Marta enthusiastically showed us the key places to visit, on the map and with photos to help us recognise what we were looking for, to make sure we got the... More

This is a fantastic place! Marta and Filipe go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome. My room on the first floor was airy with high ceilings which seems unusual for a European B&B. Various locations at the University of Porto were within 10-20 minute walk, downtown was equally close. Make sure you leave enough time... More
