I think we were the youngest folks staying at this place. Let me tell you, don't let that stop you. It was one of the highlights of our trip. The palace is pristine but old from the outside but our rooms were recently remodeled with an amazing shower, soft bed, wood floors .... Everything you need for a greet stay.... More

We enjoyed our stay, it was a 15 minute uphill walk from the main tourist areas but well worth it in our opinion, the metro station was only a few minutes away. The reception staff were very helpful and it was extremely clean and comfortable. There was plenty of choice for their continental breakfast.

The grounds are stunning in this hotel. The staff are so nice and helpful. The location is easy walking distance to everywhere in Porto. But, it's so nice to return to this beautiful Portuguese castle! It feels very special there. Easily could have stayed a week. Great for couples! We stayed in the romantic suite, it's brand new rooms in... More

Having read all the reviews we decided on booking this place as it was away from the main centre and look interesting from the pictures. We was not disappointed by what we saw and despite the area around it this is like a little oasis. We was on the top floor of the tower with fantastic views across Porto. The... More

The hotel is really close to marques metro stop, three stops from the centre of Porto, and is set back from the road so is very quiet. It's an eccentric and slightly bonkers ( in a good way) castle in great grounds. We had a ground floor room behind reception, which wasn't one I would have chosen, I'd like to... More

If you like old style looking hotels, you will love this one! If you like to visit famous cities, and stay in the centre, you will love this one! If you don't mind stairs, if you want to sleep in rooms heated by old boilers burning wood, and eat your breakfast at a beautiful victorian castle type room... You will... More

The original building contains the traditional "Madueline" Portuguese style (dark wood furniture & décor plus tiles) & the breakfast room & lounge areas, but this has recently been complemented with modern rooms in the grounds. These have been finished to a modern (if slightly bland) Euro style inc larger than standard beds etc for foreigners (Portuguese beds can be v... More

We stayed for 4 nights in a refurbished twin room on the ground floor. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and at home. Without exception, the staff were friendly and always made time to talk to you, provide useful information including about this fascinating building. The outside was covered in tiles and the building was... More

I feel bad for a 3 star, but i'm judging it agains others Ive stayed in and it just doesn't hold up. I also have to say that I didn't chose to stay at this hotel, the hotel i was suppose to stay in had a fire and this was the only alternative. Having said all that lets start with... More

Staying here was a great experience - not just a hotel stay. We loved looking around this property - the buildings, the rooms, the furniture - it was great. Because the hotel is set back from the street, the rooms are very quiet. They are also comfortable and clean, with good wifi. Breakfast, under the chandelier was wonderful - wide... More
