A really enjoyable stay at this unusual place. Set back from a main road in Porto, and up a drive and flight of stone steps, is this castle-like tower, set amid beautiful gardens. We were given a warm welcome and all the staff were very warm and friendly, and also helpful with queries about transport and restaurants. I've slept in... More

our first night was in a peasant abode - complete with mildew and old bathroom. But our second night they upgraded us a grand room in the main castle which is a world of difference! It cost only a few euro more, but it was worth much more in atmosphere and appearance. Funny that there is no bathroom door, but... More

From the street you could walk by without knowing what lies within - which is a beautiful oasis of a stay in Porto...you walk up the drive through the gate, past the lower garden, already surrounded by blue and white tiles including the tiny chapel 'for guests'. We had a warm and friendly reception and any fears I had of... More

We spent two nights in the hotel and share the excitement of many other visitors who have positively reviewed this place. We had the room in the top of the tower (4th floor) called the Grand Suite. We loved it. It has a window to all four directions. Some of the views were great. Our stay was truly memorable. We... More

Fascinating hotel, originally built as a private house by a textile tycoon but never lived in. Looks like a castle/convent with it's own private chapel. Blue ceramic wall tiles on outside, even on roof tiles. Lovely gardens to sit and relax in. Owners want to renovate some rooms but as usual having problem with planners (Where have I heard that... We got a last minute room here just for one night which was fabulous - the royal suite I believe - some pictures below. Very evocative and a bit like living in a museum - in a good way. All the rooms I saw looked great but better to be in the main house than the rooms round the garden... More

A most unusual hotel just off the centre of Porto. Easy access to town walking downhill and metro - 100 metres from the hotel (or taxi - not expensive) back. Set in large gardens with plenty of outside seating, this hotel makes a great base from which to explore Porto. Added to this, there is free on-site parking and a... More

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very helpful upon arrival. We stayed in the tower which had a wonderful view and our room was very regal. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Marques station and it was an easy trip to the city center. There are lots of steps, but keep in mind you are... More

We recently spent 10 days in this beautiful hotel and experienced a place that gives individual attention and very high standards. The staff were all friendly and very knowledgable and spoke excellent English. This coupled with the back drop of a unique building and beautiful garden made our holiday a very pleasant experience. We stayed in the garden room, which... More
