Sorry, I can't agree. For two, we were given a large room, comfy beds, functional TV, decrepit A/C (ancient, loud and non-functional, but we could open the window), mainly chocolate brown decorated bedroom with mismatched furniture paired with mainly black with white basic bathroom, no separate shower, no grab bars in shower-over-bath, view over courtyard to city, quiet room. Family... More

Stayed here for a few nights for a second time visit and still loved it. It's got an old style to it but is still stylish and the decor is beautiful. I remember this place for the elevator which sounds strange (i know) but it's so well stunning and very unique. Rooms are extremely comfy and staff very helpful, would... More

This hotel is in a perfect downtown location and very luxurious. Definitely 5* and worth every penny. The lobby is just spectacular and worth spending some time there sipping some Porto at the bar. It has a very old fashioned elevator - unusual and cute. Rooms were very nice, breakfast good, but not special. I found this old hotel to... More

Our family had mixed views about this hotel. After staying in the classy Palacete Chafariz del Rey in Lisbon we were bound to be critical. However the rooms were very good value for money (just over 100 euros a double with advanced purchase), well appointed, clean and lacked nothing. The public parts are fun and sport a mixture of authentic... More

If you're fascinating about a great 5*, old style but very clean and good service (style like the Negresco in Nice-F) then you'll like it. Varied breakfast, much choice and really excellent service (I can't believe previous reviews or the whole hotel had really a bad day). Really downtown located, quite place and big rooms. If you look to the... More

can’t express how disappointed I am with the service in this hotel. It’s such a beautiful place but the way we’ve been treated is simply horrible. This was supposed to be my birthday weekend with the girls and that’s why I’ve decided to treat us to a 5* hotel for a night. Reservation done via booking went as always (I’m... More

Hard to describe this hotel. It was unusual and beautiful. From the moment you enter the lobby you realise that this is no ordinary hotel. Huge art, chandeliers and wonderful features made this quite different from the usual business hotel. The room was of a reasonable size and I think I was lucky in getting s double bed as all... We have stayed three nights at the hotel. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Do expect old-fashioned attitude of distance but southeuropean warmth and humour. Hotel is old glory but updated. Breakfast is rich, different fruit/cereal/ dairy products. Bar has a very friendly staff but is not extended supplied. Rooms are just right, good beds, take rooms on inside, quitter.

Very mixed experience at this hotel in Porto. The good: Gorgeous lobby and restaurant. The breakfast buffet was stellar - selection that was truly outstanding. Nice location. And then the downsides: Worst mattress (lumpy!) / bed (headboard falling off the wall!) that I've ever slept on in my entire life:( Extremely small bathroom - with horrible shower. Not only was... The cons of the hotel are the rude staff, prices, and noise. They were moving furniture until 1:30am right above our bedroom. The pros are the many bars and restaurants in the area (which the staff won't tell you about) and the hotel decor is fun. My advice, keep looking.
