If you are planning to come to Porto, book a room/bed this hostel, this place is great! I am a solo female traveller, I spent a couple of nights in a 4 people mixed room, wide, super clean and with a top class ensuite bathroom. The hostel is in the art district, common areas are great, with a really ejoyable... More

My brother and I stayed in two dorm rooms and I moved to a double room on the Saturday night as the dorms were fully booked out. The dorms cost €22 and the double cost €60. Breakfast is delicious and consists of bread, toast, eggs, fruit salad, juice and cereal. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. I particularly liked that... More

This is the best hostel where I've ever stayed. Rooms are beautiful, confortable, new and super clean. Staff is great and very helpful (Adriano rocks!), they will even give you a tour around the hostel at your arrival. There are plenty of group activities, such as dinner parties and free walking tours (great to meet other guests). Breakfast is included... More

I don’t even know where to start. This is the nicest hostel I have ever stayed at or seen in the entire world. Other than the fact that we were in dorms room, it actually felt more like a hotel due to cleanliness and beauty. Our rooms were cleaned every single day, beds were made, and a delicious breakfast served... More

Great hostel that is not lacking anything - has all the amenities you will need from bike rental and internet to laundry and home cinema. Fully recommend. Porto is also a joy. Enjoy a dry white port and tonic in the hostel bar - it is fab.

A little way away from the main area of the city in the art and design district (midway between Sao Bento and Casa Da Musica), but the location is still great, with plenty of places to shop for vintage finds, as well as green grocers and supermarkets if you want to self cater. The riverfront is completely walkable in 15... More

Ok what a great location, make sure you do the walking tour with Pala she was a bundle of local history and passionate about sharing it, once we did this we knew exactly where to go and what to see everyday. The port and wine caves were at the top of our list and spent 3 days back and forward.... More

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your kind review! We're glad to know you greatly enjoyed the free historical center tour done by Paula. It is definitely a must for our guests :). Our location is one of the "secret" gems about us... quietly vibrant and a step away from the buzzing center. We all hope to welcome in... More

I spent a few weeks in Portugal with some friends and we decided to take a road trip up to Porto and check out the Port wine caves and the town of Porto and then head east to drive wine country and the Douro. At first glance from the street Gallery Hostel is somewhat hidden so we were skeptical as... More

We stayed here as a group of 11, but I'd be happy to return on my own or as a couple. The staff were incredibly friendly and quick to dispense useful advice. The breakfast was perhaps a tiny bit lacking, but it was enough to get us on our way each morning. The evening meal, which we enjoyed on our... More

Dear Greg, On behalf of all of us here at the Gallery Hostel, I would to thank you for your kind review. Regarding the breakfast, usually there's plenty of offer. However, sometimes when there is a group, there is a tendency for "shortage" at the particular moment when the group seats since it's very easy to reach capacity with other... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Gallery Hostel is set in a privileged area of Oporto, known for its art galleries and modern shops, at a walking distance from the main points of interest in the city centre such as museums, monuments, gardens, restaurants and bars. Located in Rua Miguel Bombarda, the Hostel is established in an historical building with more than 100 years old, which just went through a renewal in order to respond to our guest’s needs and expectations. With high standards of comfort and carefully decorated, you will find a familiar and cosy atmosphere, complemented by a multilingual and professional team. Composed by several types of rooms, the Gallery Hostel is divided in two sections. You can choose between staying in the main building in a 6 or 4 people bedroom, or in one of our Garden Suites, always offering a privileged privacy. In the main building, each room is named after the most renowned artists of Oporto such as Sophia Mello Breyner, Almeida Garrett, Julio Resende, Silva Porto, Siza Vieira and Souto Moura. Also creating an original feeling of the city and enhancing local culture, the Garden Suites are named after the main Oporto city parks (Cordoaria, Botânico, Serralves and Palácio de Cristal). Our services and common areas have also been developed in order to satisfy any need the guest might have. You can choose listening to music and drink Portuguese wine in our Lounge Bar, watch a DVD in our Movie Theatre or play a game, surf on internet or read a book in our Library, have a chat or chill out in our interior gardens, enjoy a meal in our open kitchen and breakfast area, between others. ... more   less
