The Gallery Hostel is set in a privileged area of Oporto, known for its art galleries and modern shops, at a walking distance from the main points of interest in the city centre such as museums, monuments, gardens, restaurants and bars. Located in Rua Miguel Bombarda, the Hostel is established in an historical building with more than 100 years old, which just went through a renewal in order to respond to our guest’s needs and expectations. With high standards of comfort and carefully decorated, you will find a familiar and cosy atmosphere, complemented by a multilingual and professional team. Composed by several types of rooms, the Gallery Hostel is divided in two sections. You can choose between staying in the main building in a 6 or 4 people bedroom, or in one of our Garden Suites, always offering a privileged privacy. In the main building, each room is named after the most renowned artists of Oporto such as Sophia Mello Breyner, Almeida Garrett, Julio Resende, Silva Porto, Siza Vieira and Souto Moura. Also creating an original feeling of the city and enhancing local culture, the Garden Suites are named after the main Oporto city parks (Cordoaria, Botânico, Serralves and Palácio de Cristal). Our services and common areas have also been developed in order to satisfy any need the guest might have. You can choose listening to music and drink Portuguese wine in our Lounge Bar, watch a DVD in our Movie Theatre or play a game, surf on internet or read a book in our Library, have a chat or chill out in our interior gardens, enjoy a meal in our open kitchen and breakfast area, between others. If you, like me, were initially puzzled by the relationship between "Gallery Townhouse & Home" and "Gallery Hostel" being in the same location, let me shed some light on it based on my recent stay at the “Gallery Townhouse & Home”. The setup might be a bit confusing at first, but here's the breakdown: while the reception, bar, and breakfast facilities are housed in the “Gallery Hostel”, the rooms are situated across the street in a separate building. During breakfast, guests from the Townhouse and Hostel are served separately. Townhouse guests enjoy a more private setting with exclusive service, including the option to order items like omelettes and English-style coffee, along with a buffet offering bread, jams, and sweets. However, coffee and juice are served at the table by the waiter, which can be slightly inconvenient if you wish to have more without repeatedly flagging down staff. The building that houses the rooms of “Gallery Townhouse & Home” is meticulously maintained and impeccably clean. I stayed in the “Fernando Pessoa” room, which was incredibly spacious with beautiful décor and a remarkably comfortable king size bed. The room came equipped with slippers, towels, bathrobe, hairdryer, and various amenities such as shampoo and cream. Additionally, the room was quiet with a pleasant view of the back. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, particularly appreciating the central location near São Bento Station and numerous tourist attractions. Despite being in the heart of the city, the surroundings were peaceful, nestled on a quiet street. One point worth mentioning is that both buildings have stairs, so individuals with mobility issues should take note of this. Not least you will receive a welcome drink, we enjoyed wine. The bar team is very friendly and friendly. There was even a situation with a guest who appeared to be drunk and started to make trouble with the attendants, they were impeccable in their patience and dealing with this guest. In summary, while there were a few minor hiccups, my experience at “Gallery Townhouse & Home” was overwhelmingly positive, and I would recommend it to others seeking a comfortable and convenient stay in the area.

Gallery hostel is SO clean and has the best breakfast I have ever had at a hostel. The food is incredibly fresh and tasty. I loved their cute little jars of mixed fruit and plenty of pastel de nata, chocolate croissants, and mini pancakes! YUM! If you are looking for gorgeous boutique hotel amenities for hostel prices, GH is where it’s at. Also, shout out to bartender Leo. New Years was a blast with you!

The hostel is very clean, it is cleaned every day. The breakfast was better than in some hotels. The beds were new and comfortable and each bed has a socket and a reading lamp. Unfortunately there are no curtains on the beds, but the beds are placed in such a way that you have enough privacy. The doors are built in such a way that they cannot be closed quietly and in the room you can hear people from the stairwell, but that's because it's an older house. This hostel is not in the center. But the area is very pleasant and you can easily walk back even in the dark and there are restaurants and cafes nearby. The hostel has a bar, but you can't hear it in the rooms. The shower facilities and the locker are great. Because everything was outside the room, you could sleep well. There is a bath towel and toiletries in the shower.

We stayed in one of their Standard Suite, which is another location. Probably, the most beautiful place I've stayed in interior wise. The room is very modern, bathroom is immaculate. Bed is big and comfortable. It was very quiet and clean. The breakfast is also worth the price and the bar and restaurant is really beautiful. What sets them aside from other places I've stayed is the genuine concern they have for their guests. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, we were forced to transfer to another hotel in the middle of the night. Travelling with a 1-year old, this situation can easily get stressful. However, the staff that attended to us were very very helpful. Going to the extent of helping us packed our stuff and bringing us to the other hotel. We also appreciate that they gave us an update and the sweet gesture of inviting us to lunch for compensation. This is something I will never forget, not just because of the situation, but the way the helped us. Unfortunately, we only had 1 day to enjoy their beautiful room but should my travel itinerary permits, i wish to go back to Porto and stay in their property again. Thank you GH!

I don't have enough good things to say about this hostel. The staff is very helpful, the cleanliness is amazing (i witnessed the cleabing process and it was very thorough), it's on a quiet street within walking distance of all the sights. The bartenders are a joy to talk to and the drinks they make are spot on! Keep up the good work!

Stayed here for 4 nights in a female dormitory room. It was a great experience, the room spacious and all facilities were perfectly clean. A nice touch that the room had an entry area for packing and bathroom facilities. For 6 beds, there were 2 separate showers and 2 toilets, all without entering the actual bedroom. It all felt safe with card access and locker boxes that didn't required your own lock but worked by setting up your own PIN code. The breakfast is highly recommended and also the occasional community dinners and wine tasting events offered by the hostel. The only complaint is that the breakfast is only available from 8am which I personally find rather late but seems like all Portuguese meals are at least 2 hours later than what is normal for me. Additionally, the hostel has a shared kitchen to use, an entertainment room with TV and board games and the 24-hour reception is very helpful with any matter from local guidance to ordering a taxi.

Where to start. This place felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel, with its intricate decor and little patios. I went with my partner and we were truly amazed by the value we got. We had a very large private room and private bathroom (truly nicer than many hotels we stay at) and the location was absolutely perfect. Photos posted on their trip advisor page are very accurate. I have recommended this hostel to so many of my friends and colleagues.

This was my 2nd visit to GH Porto, this time with 5 friends, staying between 2 private rooms at the hostel and 3 rooms at the nearby townhouse. It didn't disappoint! V comfortable beds, spotless bathrooms beautifully appointed, and I loved the decor. Comfortable chairs to lounge in, spotless cooking & dining facilities, tastefully decorated, a roof terrace to enjoy the February sunshine (we were lucky!), and an enclosed courtyard at the townhouse with comfortable garden furniture. The staff were so polite & helpful, at checkin, at the bar, and at breakfast, which included delicious scrambled egg, made to order. We dined at the hostel where they serve a Portuguese menu once a week - €20 for 3 courses, all delicious, including advice from the chef and a very knowledgeable wine waiter. A member of our group fell foul of the uneven Porto street paving and ended up with a cast and crutches - the staff went out of their way to make sure she was comfortable. GH is a perfect place for a group of friends, and very good value - the photos speak for themselves! Put it on your list!

It’s been about four years since we last stayed at Gallery Hostel, and they’ve expanded and renovated since then. We stayed in a private room across the street from the main hostel. It was a very nice and comfortable room, with all of the standard necessities. The main hostel now has a small bar on the first floor and a nice restaurant in the basement. Breakfast was offered with Covid in mind, and the food and service were good. The area around the hostel seems to be in transition. There’s a pedestrian street nearby, and most of the businesses were shuttered. Hopefully a major renovation is planned. Regardless, there are a number of good restaurants within walking distance. I’ve stayed at Gallery Hostel three times already, and I’m sure I’ll stay there again the next time we visit Porto.
