The hotel is a standard-issue Mercure: a nondescript 70s building with small square windows, a bit dated, rooms neither too large nor too small, quite comfortable for the price. However, it is worth staying in for the view. The hotel is located on a high hill (quite steep, by the way) and the even rooms on top floors have a... more

Our group of 12 friends stayed here for 4 days in July 2009. Very good value for the money, rooms are modern and clean with excellent amenities. Did not use the restaurant other than the complimentary breakfast buffet, which was plentiful but average in quality and service. Since most my time was spent touring Porto, this hotel was perfect for... more

Hotel was quite busy and the first room they gave us was very small and looked out onto a wall. I asked if we could changed and they very kindly gave us another room which was much better and had a view onto a side street but was much bigger. The bathrooms were good and the shower powerful. The River... more

We booked a double room weeks before arrival, but when we got there got given a twin room instead. When we asked to change, they said that they were fully booked but would check anyway. They eventually placed us in a double room, but it was a lot smaller than the previous one. To be fair to Mercure, it could... more

We had a very reasonably priced suite, and this provided all that we wanted for a city stay. The sitting room was entirely separate and enabled us to relax between busy times visiting Porto. The decor and furniture is cool and contemporary. And the staff are extremely helpful and supportive. more

Nice and clean "chain hotel" in Porto. Some 10 minute walk from the river. Efficient service, clean room and a working aircondition. The location is very good. Bot for sights in the city centre (old town), shopping street and the river/Ribeira. Recommended! more

This was the family's first trip to Portugal. We were very pleased with this hotel. Out two rooms (532 and 534) were excellent and the front desk staff very helpful. The hotel is high up above the station and river-side, but of course we had fantastic views to enjoy and we soon worked out the simplest way to walk down... more

In Mercure Porto Center (Praca da Batalha) the rooms are comfortable but a little crammed with furniture or needing more space for it. Good buffet breakfast and poor restaurant service. At night, if you´re travelling alone, Praca da Batalha invites to don’t leave the hotel. Very kind front desk service. more

Just OK

This Mercure in Porto, Portugal is very disappointing. Although the room is acceptable, everything else could be greatly improved. The breakfast is very unappetizing. The food that should have been hot was barely warm and the coffee was not hot. The wait staff does not seem to be interested in providing any more that than absolute minimum level of service.... more
