We ended up with an excellent room on the top floor with an expansive terrace overlooking the rooftops of Porto. Fantastic start to our holiday. The hotel is dark and moody, and provides enough of a dramatic backdrop to your visit to this wonderful city. And it is excellently located to explore most areas by foot. Breakfast was indulgent too.... More

We arrived from the Airport via the Metro. The nearest metro station is Sao Bento, but this involves a change at Trinidade so we stayed on to Balhao (The next stop). From there it is a short walk down hill to the Teatro (Less than 10 minutes). On arrival we were a little confused on how to enter as there... More

The good: Location, location, location... This hotel is very central located and tourist sights are in walkable distance (always keep in mind that Porto has a lot of steep streets no matter where you stay). The apparent theme of the hotel is theatre but could also be seen as movie theatre, the mix of costumes, celluloid lights, movie audience wallpaper,... More

I liked this hotel. Really, I did. The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. The staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel had bags of character. However... We arrived in the late afternoon. I walked through the front door and automatically reached to take my sunglasses off, only to realise that I had already done this. The entire hotel... More

Everything in the hotel is about theatre and that is clear. It looks good, the room is spacious with a rain shower. You don't hear any noises from your neighbours. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of the city. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and with fresh fruit. Negative was the wifi which... More

This place has it all! Smack in the middle of town in walking distance to almost everything. Great service, good English. Comfortable beds, wonderful shower. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and very fresh, served with both freshly pressed orange juice and complimentary bubbly wine. Only downside is the very slow wifi.

Lovely staff. Fabulous restaurant, Great bar. All the staff were polished, lovely, friendly. Professionals. Very nice rooms, spacious, big bathroom, fabulous rain shower. Glass toilet stall open to room, could be challenging for the uptight. Dark hotel is moody, tranquil, romantico. Go I say !

The positives: Very friendly staff. Great service. We were given a complimentary bottle of champagne and a small cake as my husband was celebrating his birthday. Very good breakfast. Great location. Free WiFi in the room. The negatives: Very, very dark hotel. Hence difficult to see whether the place is clean or not. Great shower but very difficult to get... More

Hotel is centrally located, walking distance to everything! You will not get a better hotel for this price - very clean, all amenities provided, staff 100% helpful and great buffet breakfast as well as perfect location! We were celebrating our anniversary and the hotel kindly provided us with champagne and chocolate cake! A real treat thank you! We were also... More

We stayed here for two nights and liked the room and hotel very much. It is very modern and I liked that it is somewhat dark, it makes it cosy and private. We arrived with a car, and that was quickly parked in the garrage just next to the hotel. The room is very nice and a bit different from... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
