This beautiful hotel in Porto is one that should not be missed. The friendly feel of the hotel made it a special place to stay. The castle rooms were very elegant and the breakfast and service good. The hotel is so romantic that I left it with a new fiancé! Will definitely be visiting again in the future!

we spent 2 nights here and I would have given it 5 stars except for no elevator which was an experience when you are on the 4th floor (3rd in Europe) and have a heavy suitcase filled with wine bottles and pottery collected on your trip! Best breakfast we had, excellent location close to waterfront scene, nice and quiet. Really... More

It's not a regular hotel. It's more. Pretty gardens, uniquely finished rooms and the best of it all - great staff (I can't recall the name of the manager who sent us to two restaurants where we had the best Portuguese food) who will point you to good restaurants (if you're a foodie - this means a lot!). The rooms... More

Castelo Staying at this hotel is a unique experience. We enjoyed ourselves very much. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and more than we expected. The ambiance in the gardens was just delightful. You are only a few minutes from a Metro stop in a quiet city location. The rooms in the castle require you to... More

It’s a quirky mansion converted into a hotel some 30 years ago. It isn’t equipped with modern conveniences (no air conditioning and no double glazing) but oozes style with opulent decorations and furnishings – la belle époque. It has delightful gardens to sit in or wander round and offers an excellent breakfast spread. Friendly and very helpful staff. We stayed... More

We enjoyed our stay so much in the Castelo--what a grand place! The staff are outstanding and it was such a joy to get back to peace and quiet of the garden after a long trek uphill from the downtown area. Kudos!

We did have some difficulty finding this hotel due to the one-way system in the city, so if you're driving make sure you have good driving directions! When we eventually found it we were delighted, as it is quite an oasis in what seems to be a rather run-down part of the city. Set in lovely gardens with plenty of... More

The reviews were right about this hotel - it is a litle gem. We had room 124 on the second floor of the old building. The room was not large but it had a carved wooden bed, a chandelier, marvellous plasterwork and (ignoring the neighbouring car park) good views across town. The Lounge is quite remarkable and there is nice... More
