This guest house is on the waterfront, fantastic location, compact bedrooms (don't take large suitcases if you can avoid it) great amenities and hosts Carmen & Joao are exceptional in attention to detail and looking after their guests..breakfast is beautifully presented and very generous...a wonderful way to experience Porto.

Porto is a magical city in and of itself but to stay here makes the whole experience EXTRA special. You are truly treated like royalty by its owners, and they are immensely helpful in showing you what to visit and have great suggestions for where to eat. The rooms are small but very efficiently laid out. Beds were very comfortable.... More

What a lovely guesthouse this is! The rooms are beautifully renovated and extremely comfortable. Carmen and Joao couldn't be more welcoming and helpful hosts. Breakfast is a work of art. The location is special, right on the banks of the Douro.

This beautifully restored guesthouse is right on the quays, within walking distance to Porto's attractions, charming restaurants and just across the bridge to the port warehouses. We stayed here 4 weeks ago and Carmen and Juan were wonderful hosts. They made fantastic restaurant recommendations (and bookings) and were always there, ready with a coffee or a port! They even made... More

Staying at the Guest House Douro was a fabulous experience. It was like staying with family - the highly functioning, supportive kind. Carmen and Jao are excellent hosts and everything was done to perfection. The rooms were immaculately clean. The breakfast was fabulous and well presented, and the hosts gave us some great ideas about what to do and see... More

Everything about Guest House Douro was fantastic from the moment we arrived. (Actually, even before we arrived as Carmen helped us secure a restaurant reservation weeks in advance.) Everyone we met on staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is located on a beautiful, small street in a historic part of the city near restaurants, historical sites, and shopping.... More

I cannot say enough about this guest house and it's lovely, friendly owners. The room we stayed in 402 was not large but sufficiently big enough to be comfortable and the beautiful views over the river made up for it. The guest house is classy and the decor excellent, the breakfast room is lovely as were the superb breakfasts we... More

A truly lovely small hotel in the historic part of Porto, overlooking the river; comfortable, beautifully decorated and expertly run by the owners: Carmen and Joao. Rooms are small but comfortable and, on the river-side, with a fabulous view. The only "downside" is limited cupboard space to unpack into.. Breakfasts are perfect, as is the advice provided by Carmen and... More

Yes rooms on the small side but what do you expect in historic Porto and the location, friendliness and welcome from Carmen and Joao is second to none. A real gem in a fabulous location with fantastic hosts for whom nothing appears too much trouble. You will be disappointed if you don't stay here.
