This is the ultimate B&B! Beautiful historic home in beautiful rural location run by beautiful people. Stayed two nights in their lovely two-bedroom apt. last week at the end of the inn's season. This is the very best of the Douro Valley which is the best of Portugal. Don't miss taking a boat cruise on the river and don't miss... More

Casa da Azenha is placed in the wonderfull region of the Douro, near Peso da Régua and Pinhão. It is near beautiful Quintas, Rabelo boat rides, sightseeing spots, river beaches and other leisure things to do in the Douro. The Casa is fabulous, extremely well kept, peaceful and quiet, a great place to relax and enjoy the Douro. The owners... More

If you a visiting the Douro region, you must build in, at least, a couple of nights at Casa da Azenha. Manuel and Anita are charming hosts and we stayed in a beautifully furnished room with ensuite, which also had an entrance leading directly onto the courtyard. It is so peaceful and relaxing with glorious views over vineyards. There are... More

This casa is a slice of Eden in Portugal. We were greated by gracious and welcoming hosts who made us feel at home. The room was beautiful; full of well preserved antiques. They also had a well manicured garden and a great pool (though the pool was cold, but refreshing). Every morning we were served a delicious breakfast which included... More

The best B&B we have ever experienced! From the moment we arrived at Casa da Azenha, it was one experience after another. We drove up, rang the bell and the gates opened so that we could drive in. We were welcomed by Manuel and Anita and shephered into the charming inn. Anita quickly welcomed us with homemade lemonade and Manuel... More

If you're seeing Portugal, do not miss the gorgeous Douro River inland from Oporto and then don't miss staying with Manuel and Anita at Casa da Azenha. There is a reason why this place is straight-5's from all reviewers. From the moment we arrived we were embraced by the warm welcome both Manuel and Anita gave my wife and me... More

The inn keepers, Manuel & Anita, are the most gracious hosts one could hope to find. Their home is like your own, best described as a 300-year old museum with all the modern conveniences. Immaculate and beautiful. It's orange tree, and rose filled garden is without equal. We will come back, again and again.

We started our Casa experience with a rescue by Manuel and his son after our car broke down. They were so kind to pick us up, two very tired and lost Canadians. We arrived at the beautiful Casa da Azenha to be greeted by Anita, our gracious hostess, who offered us tea and cake. Highlights of our stay included: delightful and... More

My husband and I recently spent three nights at Casa da Azenha and it was one of the highlights of our tour of Portugal. Manuel and Anita could not have been kinder or more generous, sharing excellent advice for exploring the area, giving tours of their beautifully maintained property and creating a warm, elegant environment in which to relax. Manuel... More

We recently spent 1 night here on a brief taster visit to the upper Douro valley. It was perfect. Manuel is a gracious and attentive host who is justifiably proud of Casa de Azenha and its wonderful history. The accommodation was comfortable and clean. Breakfast (included) was superb - in our case taken in the house's lovely dining room as... More
