I wish I had the life of proprietors Manuel and Anita, who (lucky them!) live on the property. The Casa has been in Manuel’s family since 1640 and it’s full of historical charm with a laid-back vibe. We stayed for three days/two nights in the No. 1 room on their website. Wi-fi was a bit spotty and there’s no TV... More

The Casa Azenha is the perfect guest house to stay in Douro valley. it is perfectly located: 3 min. drive from Peso da Regua with restaurants and marina, 5/7 min. to the beautiful city for Lamego and only 15/20 min. drive to Pinhão, heart of the Douro valley. The Casa Azenha is at least 200 years old and it is... More

We only stayed less than 20h on site but we can warmly recommend you this place when you want to visit the Douro valley. Our review joins all the others which were already written. The host was very pleasant and helpful ! The location, the building, the garden (many flowers, trees, etc) and the swimming pool were perfect. We were... More

Five friends on a two week trip through northernSpain and a bit of Portugal agreed that Casa da Azenha was our favorite spot. It is breathtakingly beautiful (gardens, pool, vineyards, citrus and pomegranate trees); our hosts were wonderfully gracious and helpful; and the location was perfect for the Douro. We had considered staying in a Quinta on slopes above the... More

Casa da Azenha is a real find. This small hotel is elegant, graceful, and beautiful. The owners are fantastic hosts, and the hotel is superbly maintained and managed. The gardens are extensive and gorgeous with fountains a swimming pool. Behond the gardens are hillsides of grape vines, with nice walking pathways all around. This is a five star hotel at... More

In March 2011 we spent a weekend in this beautifully restored manor house just south of the Douro River. Manuel and his wife Anita provide a warm welcome: they made us feel like long lost friends. They shared their culture, and were interested in ours. Their guest house, an estate which has been in Manuel’s family for several centuries, is... More

We recently spent 2 nights at Casa da Azenha, but wish it had been more. Anita and Manuel are the most charming, attentive and considerate hosts. The house and apartments is set in the most truly stunning garden setting, one could spend hours simply sitting or exploring the gardens and 'farm'/ Breakfast in the garden was a real treat, delicious... Last weekend we went to the Douro Valley in the north of Portugal. This is the region where the famous Porto wines are made as well as Douro Region table wines. The landscape along the rio Douro margins are staggering and you have several alternatives to visit the area: by car, by boat or by train. Take a camera with... More

We went here to celebrate a birthday together with family and friends. It couldn`t have been a better choice!! It was our second visit to Casa da Azenha. The first was 2007 and then we fell in love with Casa da Azenha. It was a big wish to come back. Beautiful place, great hospitality, peaceful, beautiful and comfortable rooms -... More
