We stumbled upon Hotel Fundador late last night & what a pleasant surprise! Very friendly service, large clean rooms, close to town and excellent value - hard to fault (unless dated decor gets you down). €50 for a massive twin room (actually a queen + 2 singles) with parking & breakfast included. Oh, and WiFi in the room. Definitely worth... More

This hotel is only a few hundred meters from the train station so you can walk there. For the price its a good hotel. The breakfast room has the most fantastic views. The rooms are big and clean, maybe slightly dated still but nothing bad. Its close to walk into the main centre so quite central to everything. Free wifi... More

We booked this hotel for one night only but the bar at the top floor was a nice surprise for us. It has excellent panoramic view on the city. Location is also very convenient. The room was good and also with a view. Very good value for money.

With great height, the Hotel is rather intrusive on the local landscape but does provide wonderful views from the higher floors. Everything is generally fine here. Rooms were large, clean & everything worked. Plenty of hot water, internet super fast (with free voucher), bed was comfortable & small minibar. Downside - no room kettle, no room safe and no iron.... If book a high Floor above 6th floor you get a fantastic view over the city. The hotel has very large rooms, and covered parking included. Is a few minutes from the old town, a close in 100 m to the central arts and music auditorium. is a must in Guimaraes,

The Fundador is a ten minute walk from the city center-downhill into town, uphill back to the hotel. Our room was large, lots of room to stow luggage, good-sized bathroom. All very clean. The breakfast (included in the price) had good selection. There is on-site parking. Our room (eighth floor) had a wonderful view of the city. The hotel is... More

I've stayed there with my family and the rooms are very large and very clean. The kids loved it. It's very well located (very close to the historic center) and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast is very good and it's a very good deal for a large family.

Got a double room via Priceline in late Aug-12. Very close to Historic Center - however walking back to the hotel involves a 300m, or so, slight incline. Rooms were clean and convenient; WiFi passwords expired every 12hrs - a bit annoying. Breakfast and its restaurant/room service were very good. In-door garage is a plus, but spaces are tight and... Stayed here for four nights on business in September 2012. This really is a typical three star hotel, but a good example of one. The furnishings are basic, but in good condition, and the hotel is spotlessly clean. The air-conditioning was a little noisy but very effective - I found I could turn it off at night despite 30-degree plus... More

We only stayed here one night in June 2012. The rain drove us further West & South. I would have like to stay longer, nice town, nice hotel. We had a huge room that would have slept 4 people. The room was clean; the bathroom was spotless. The hotel is located next to train tracks but there was no noise... More
