If you ever wonder what it was like to live in a monastery the you should definitely go to this pousada. I have stayed here many times on business trips and it is consistently superb. Ask for one of the rooms on the 5th floor, these are more traditional and cosy. Breakfast buffet is exceptional, and the hotel restaurant is good for regional specialties. The staff are efficient and friendly. more

Wow, what a place. Stayed two nights and it was fantastic. Service A-1 pools two and what a view. Rooms unbeliveable. Meals first class and reasonable. Almost graded it excellent - certainly outstanding. A beautiful setting (lovely, extensive, grounds at the back, some of this running to wild and very atmospheric) and an imposing building.
