Excellent hotel, well located, very friendly staff, excellent room over street, quiet and clean. Wifi not so strong due to old, thick stone walls. Very room and comfy. Modern bathroom (door did not lock). Helpful staff - we had a car to park.

Booked an overnight stay here in a double and a quad room, firstly when we got there, it is on a small windy one way street and there definition of private parking is two reserved street parking spaces outside the hotel, I tried to explain to the lady that the description of this on booking.com is misleading but she didn't... This hotel is located just a 5 minute walk from the historic center of Guimaraes. The staff are for the most part very friendly and obliging. Parking is difficult and because there is no lift, taking luggage from our car to the room on the 2nd floor was a little more demanding than I would have anticipated. Our upgraded "deluxe"... More

Room was clean, nicely decorated, big enough but not huge. Bathroom was good (clean with good shower and nicely decorated). Comfortable bed. The wide central stairs to the hotel are very cool with quirky chairs on each, and a sort of lounge half way up too which made the place feel welcoming somehow. We were on the top floor so... More

From research I expected an adequate hotel which seemed to be a good price for a one night stay. Everything that I encountered was wonderful. (I did not have breakfast so I can't comment on that.) Extremely good value. One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. My room was superb. A beautiful hotel. Very close to the... More

This hotel is situated down a side street so a bit away from the squares. The neighborhood noises (traffic, people and church bells) were noisy with our window open. This hotel was the only one we stayed at in Portugal that charged for wifi. Check in was very brief - passport details, breakfast in this room and here is your... More

Really like this hotel. Great, quirky place which is also very clean! Charismatic with an excellent little bar downstairs. Nice building and staircase with lovely balconies over looking the town. All topped with a collection of modern art inside with made a great mix. Excellent staff and value for money. Highly recommended

We spent four nights here. I give it a big OK. Some of the staff were helpful, some were indifferent. We had a parking space on the street out front. Parking can be very difficult. I used my laptop in the coffee area every day. It was better than other hotels in Guimaraes that I have stayed at. But I... More

Modern decor, low prices, friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and really comfortable bed. Great location, easy walk to old city center, train station, and shopping mall. Internet works well and is inexpensive. Lobby bar is great but also quiet at night!

We don´t like big hotels , so we decided to book a room at Mestre de Avis .Despite being classified only 2 stars , we were impressed by the comfort of the rooms and the tasteful way the old building was decorated and transformed into a cosy and arty hotel . Located in the old centre of Guimaraes , the... More
