Home from home! A warm welcome from Rita who is well informed about the Island and anxious to please, encouraging us to make ourselves at home. The garden and terrace have stunning views of the harbour, the house is clean, and although slightly dated bathrooms, they are well eqipped with lashings of hot water! Quinta is a very pleasant environment... More

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Quinta Sao Goncalo, and had a very enjoyable time. The setting is wonderful and the staff is friendly and very accommodating. We stayed in the end room with views over the city and the ocean, and unlike previous reviews, we found the bed comfortable, and had no issue with... More

Lovely Quinta to relax, with a wonderful view of Funchal, a delicious breakfast at the terrace, and good information from the city and Island in general by the owner. Thank you Rita. Mariana and Günter

We stayed three nights at Quinta Sao Goncalo in January, and it was the best accommodation we had on Madeira. The Quinta is lovely with a garden overlooking the city. It is a bit outside Funchal, but that was not a problem for us as we had a car. They have a parking lot inside the gates. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

This was our second stay at the Quinta. What a lovely place. It's on the 'right' side of town (the old town) as far as we're concerned. Really only a short (and interesting) walk into the old town which has great character. Spectacular views from the garden and terrace where breakfast is served. We've stayed twice in the 'blue' room... More

My wife and I stayed in this B&B on a recommendation from a friend and it was a great choice. The owners are really nice and the rooms are good. The main draw however is the great views over Funchal and it was lovely getting up for breakfast on the patio in front. And the breakfast is great by the... More

This is a very beautiful and calm b&b house situated in the marvelous garden where breakfast is served in the morning and where you can enjoy spectacular view over Funchal. I can confirm bad condition of bed which was jumping and I couldn´t sleep well. Parking is very safe, behind gate. This place is not near to Funchal center. It... More

This is a delightful, tiny property with perhaps 5 rooms. The garden is great, staff was wonderful. It's quite remote from town, 25 minute walk in, however bus service runs very near by. Mornings & evenings there was rather a bit of dog barking noise. found we couldn't beat sunset from the garden. Breakfast was ok. Staff very friendly in... More

If you're travelling to Madeira as a couple, wanting to stress off and relax in beautiful surroundings, Quinta São Goncalo is the perfect accommodation. Situated in a part of Funchal, where you hardly ever see any other tourists than the other few staying here, you are far away from the world of hotel chains, international concepts and designer smartness. We... More

I am actually in the middle of my week's stay here and would highly recommend staying here. The rooms are large, spotlessly cleaned by Rita's staff and it is very peaceful. Rita is very helpful with advice etc and the lounge are plenty of guides on Madeira in several languages. The lounge is just as the family was still living... More
