Beautiful old hotel that has been tastfully updated in the old area of Funchal. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful always stopping for a chat. The rooms are large and very clean with comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. Some of the rooms are on top of a bakery and the smell of fresh bread in the morning is... More

Residencial Mariazinha is exactly what we look for in finding accommodations . This place is newly remodeled retaining the original flavor of an old Portuguese home including the cherry hardwood floors , stairs and accents. The hotel / residence / b & b is very spacious and feels like all in one beautiful package. Everything is kept very clean and... More

Great location in the heart of the old town.A very clean hotel large rooms we had the suite on the top floor. Nice firm beds. Wifi and a computer are in the communal area.Breakfast is a basic continental. Tea and coffee facilities would have been a nice touch in the rooms.Restaurants are rights outside of the hotel door. Two min... More

At the centre of everything, lovely staff, clean, tasteful and reasonable price too. Nowhere else compares really with this recently converted 17c property. If you want a swimming pool or wheelchair access, well this isn't the hotel for you though.

Nice little hotel and really friendly staff, right on the main restaurant street in the old town in Funchal - but don't book rooms at the front on Friday or Saturday nights (really noisy bar right outside, with drinking in the street till 3.00am) and much better to be on the 2nd floor not the 1st (there's a bakery under... As a stopover for one night, enroute to a villa whose rental started on a Saturday, this was perfect. The location on one of the cobbled streets of the Zona Velha, was beautiful. We were the last arrivals of the day, so were greeted by name. We were able to have a lovely stroll before settling on one of the... More

A very comfortable, traditionally furnished and spotlessly clean guest house in R. de Santa Maria in the heart of Funchal's Zona Velha. The house is much bigger than it looks from the street. It's located above a bakery so expect the relevant smells in the morning (a plus in my view). The street is pedestrianised but very busy (full of... More

Previous reviews have mentioned that this hotel is located in the beautiful old town of Funchal. Unfortunately in recent weeks they have had to contend with a Poncho Bar opening directly across the narrow street which is open till anything from 2am till 630am !! We initialliy had a room at the front and had to move after a sleepness... More

We stayed in the suite at the Mariazinha in August this year. We really wanted to avoid the Lido area, with its massive chain hotels - and as soon as we saw this place online we knew it was where we wanted to stay. It is along the oldest street in Funchal - a tiny cobbled road, and close to... More
