You are right in the old part of the city but the real bonus is that you stay over real bakery, the accommodation is spotless & if your room is on the top floor (53 steps!) you actually get spoilt, the bathroom is enormous & there is a small balcony. We shall return next time that we visit Madeira.

This hotel was formerly home to the original bakery owners below it. The smell of fresh bread mingles with the lingering scent of beeswax throughout the graceful and well-cared for spaces of Residencia Mariazinha. Breakfast includes bread and rolls from the bakery, excellent coffee, fruit and yoghurt, cereals, cheese and ham. We have a suite with a south-facing balcony and... More

If you want to stay right I the G Spot of Funchal, this is the correct choice. Very well located, close to the restaurants, bars, nightlife, historic center, some of the best attractions in the city, and all for a reasonable price. The breakfast included is just the basic Portuguese breakfast, not intercontinental or even fantastic, but allow you to... More

I you are looking to chill out by the pool, Residencial Mariazinha is not for you. If, on the other hand, you want to be in the heart of the action, this intimate converted Portuguese townhouse may fit the bill. Sitting bang on Rua de Santa Maria in the heart of Funchal's old town, it's convenient for the cable car,... More

Beautiful old hotel that has been tastfully updated in the old area of Funchal. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful always stopping for a chat. The rooms are large and very clean with comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. Some of the rooms are on top of a bakery and the smell of fresh bread in the morning is... More

Residencial Mariazinha is exactly what we look for in finding accommodations . This place is newly remodeled retaining the original flavor of an old Portuguese home including the cherry hardwood floors , stairs and accents. The hotel / residence / b & b is very spacious and feels like all in one beautiful package. Everything is kept very clean and... More
