The room was clean and the beds made daily. We were on floor 7 and the view was amazing. We spent a lot of the evenings on the balcony which was very peaceful. Wifi was sometimes available around the pool area but was better near the lifts. We never had to get up early for sun beds which was a... More

We knew we weren't on to a good start when the receptionist was clearly having a bad day and us wanting to check in was a major inconvenience for her. No problem, we'll wait in the bar. Except there is not one bar in the entire place. To get a drink in this place you have to go to the... More

Although this hotel is very tired in the decor and could do with a bit of tlc'it is however very good place to stop. The small kitchen in a cupboard is an excellent idea keeping your room as just that a room when the doors to this kitchen are closed'the bed was very good and also the pillows providing a... More

clean hotel good location needs a bar/cafe at the pool area where the wifi room is located the same as its sister hotel which is more modern. great base for all restaurants and local bars. 25 minute walk into funchal town centre. no beaches in madeira with sand only machico which is 30 mins away on a bus. clean rooms... 3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2015

The hotel is due a much needed updating and decoration, breakfast was usually varied on the fresh fruit table, but there was only 'bacon' on two of our 7 days and the fried eggs were overcooked. Dinner was varied as were the deserts. This hotel sadly lacks a comfortable bar or sitting area, as the only murky, dark seats near the... More

We stayed as part of a Thomson holiday package for 7 nights. The holiday was good value, and the hotel was pleasant enough, but nothing outstanding. The room was clean and comfortable, and the pool area was also nice and quiet. The hotel was also in quite a convenient location. They provide a shuttle to Funchal town throughout the daytime,... Madeira is a beautiful island & the people are lovely. I've had a fantastic holiday apart from the hotel. Ok...it's only 3 star & up until tonight I would have said, 'you get what you pay for.' However, my already noisy room (overlooks busy road & carpark) just got worse. It also overlooks the function room where a private party... More

There are clearly mixed reviews for the Buganvilia but our July stay was very pleasant and considering the whole stay cost us only £250 for a double room bed and breakfast for 7 nights it is cracking value. You can't stay at home for less money! Anyone who expects Reid's Palace levels of luxury should expect to pay £300 a... More

Just returned from here and would never stop there again. The rooms are very dated and tired and in need of new flooring. The breakfast was disgusting and inedible, the eggs were like rubber and the jam looked like vomit. Definately not a 3 star hotel. The only good pointers about the hotel was the indoor pool, spa, Jacuzzi and... More
