Upon arrival at the hotel check in, I was advised that all meals for British guests would be taken at the Hotel Bourgonville which was at the bottom of a very steep hill of around 150 plus steps. As I have limited mobility I refused this arrangement point blank as I would not be able to walk this distance, we... More

Nobody told me this place is full of french. Would like an English conversation sometime. We on tenth floor always a queue for the lift. I'm so missing a balcony . We are half board but due to the hotel overbooked we have evening meal at the bourgonville hotel next door. Which has no bar.

We were lucky and had a great view of the sea and Funchal. The room was very small for two but all new bathroom and very clean every day. Very steep to walk up to hotel so not for people with walking problems. Breakfast a bit hit and miss. Great location with everything near by. Hotel runs a shuttle bus... More

Very good hotel in good location. About a 20 minute walk into Funchal and less than 10 minute walk to the new lido promenade. Excellent portugeuse food and compliments to the chef and kitchen staff. All staff are helpful and very friendly. Bedroom was small but adequate and very clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was big with bidet, bath and... More

The Estrelicia hotel situated in the western part of Funchal, Madeira, is an excelent value for money-way to be the center of a one week trip to the island. We tried a december week to get away from the european winter. Even at that time of year, the weather is nice, with daytemperatures from 15 to 22 deg. C. In... More

we have just returned from a two week all inclusive stay at the estrelicia and had a wonderful time there. The hotel is a bit tired in places but kept very clean and is more than made up for by the staff who we found very helpful and friendly,[special mention to Filipa in reception and Sergio at the bar].The bedrooms were... Having booked for B&B here we were slightly dubious due to reading some quite frankly ridiculous and very unwarranted reviews, but do mot let this guide you as we were greeted very warmly and for the entirity of our stay treated no different to french, german, dutch or any nationality (so the reviews stating they do not like British/English are... This year we decided we wanted to have a all inclusive holiday and just relax... Well when we arrived it seemed ok, but as soon as they realised we were English they didn't seem to pleased. Staff were very blunt to us and seemed much more polite to other guests. The facilities weren't great there are a couple of pools... More

We had a really negative experience of this hotel and would advise you all to stay away from it. My partner and me booked an all inclusive stay for last week and we aren't happy by what we received for the money. There's a number of problems here. First off, it isn't really all inclusive in the strictest sense of... More

We arrived to be given the worst room going but told we could change the following day. We did so to get a room with a fantastic view and the staff going out of their way to help us. Food is ok and the pools are ok as it goes. Nice indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi.
