Spent a week in the most delightful hotel ever. Set around an original colonial house, the new modern facilities blended in perfectly, and were of the very highest standard. Set in fabulous sub-tropical gardens, lovely pool setting nd even a resident giant tortoise! It was perfect in every way. The staff were exceptionally friendly, we really loved it.

A perfect hotel for a relaxing holiday, wonderful service from very friendly staff beautifully furnished, and the food cooked and presented with great flair and attention to detail. I enjoyed the chocolate birthday cake presented to me at the end of dinner and the kind birthday greetings from all the staff. September 2011 . C.A.G.GOFF

I'm sure this is a lovely hotel but be careful if you are only booking for a few days. After much planning (we have two children and we rarely have the chance to get away on our own) we choose the Lago to celebrate my husbands 40th birthday and had booked and paid by April 11 for a trip this... We have just returned from a 10 day holiday in Madeira and stayed at this most wonderful hotel. Everything about it is perfect. All of the staff are absolutely delightful and do everything they can to make your holiday run without a hitch. The rooms are excellent as are the grounds and facilities and the food in the dining room... More

We were greeted like old friends yet it was our first visit. The room was excellent and we enjoyed being on the ground floor. It was quiet though not far from a main road to the city centre. The grounds made the holiday special because we could wander about and see new, interesting plants and creatures! The attention of the... More

This hotel was formerly the home of the British consul in Madeira, so has style and elegance. The conversion of this residence into a hotel has been graciously done. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable, with a view over the gardens to the sea in the distance. The pool is large with a... More

This is truly one of the loveliest hotels I have stayed in world wide. An old, gracious former home that accomodates a small number of guests. Having made the booking, I did wonder if I should have booked in the "hotel area" in downtown Funchal/Praia Formosa. After just five minutes at the Quinta, I was very pleased that I had... More

A very nice place to stay in Funchal with not so many rooms, so that you immediately feel well and home like. There is a lush garden with a nice pool. The rooms are large and comfortable, and the service is friendly and efficient. The food is good. Our young children liked it very much as well. Prices are reasonable.

We have stayed twice at Jardins do Lago and have come back having loved it even more the second time than the first. The service is excellent; the staff are so friendly and helpful without intruding on your time at all. The standard of the hotel is exceptional. The gardens are beautiful. The hotel has such an atmosphere of calm.... More
