We have just returned from a wonderful week in Funchal which was enhanced by the excellent accommodation at this hotel. It is so well situated, being a short walk through the Old Town to the sea front, the cable car, the bus station and taxi ranks. The room was clean and very comfortable with a great view across the harbour... More

We went with Classic Collection over Easter and were upgraded to a larger room on arrival with a view of the sea (as promised for honeymooners, even those approaching retirement). The room had its own fairly private patio, a very spacious bathroom and a comfortable bed. The hotel and our room overlooked the harbour which is a constant source of... More

We stayed Easter weekend 2012. Overall we were really pleased with the hotel, peaceful atmosphere, nice pool - a bit cold this time of year but still good for a dip! Great views of the harbour and town from the top rooms. Location was fabulous, if staying for only a few days as we did we'd recommend staying here near... More

We stayed here last month and it was an excellent experience overall. We were delayed arriving but the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The room was spacious with everything we needed. OK the food is a little bland but was still mostly tasty and quite varied. The breakfast is as god as you will get anywhere... More

It is a while now since I visited this hotel but to be honest forgot to review it! The picking list only goes up to September 2011 and it was previous to that we stayed. It was probably one of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. Have a look on their own website. It... More

Although the food was bland we would vote for the head waiter as being the best we have experienced anywhere in the world. In fact every Madeira-ese person we met was delightful in every way. The location is vitally important as the other end of Funchal resembles the worst aspects of the Spanish costas. Keep off the road in front... More

We returned for our 4th visit in as many years to this lovely old hotel set in the old town. The location is great, within easy access of all the facilities in the old town and Funchal city centre but far away from the large hotels and souvenir shops of the lido area. The staff and service are very helpful... More

I was toying between giving this hotel either a 4 or 5 - the 5 won due to it's superb location! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the town and harbour/marina with stunning views. Our room was good and very clean. The hotel staff were all friendly and efficient - we did not visit the restaurant, but the... More
