We enjoyed our stay here. The room was a good size and overlooked the pool. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and well maintained. Most of the staff were friendly. Breakfast spread was good and you can eat on the terrace above the pool. The hotel is close to the old town (where you'll find many restaurants) and to the market... More

After a delayed flight we arrived about 8pm - having previously sent 2 emails directly to their website email, went to our 2nd floor room (214) to look out onto another building. Back to reception to be told 'sorry Madam we are fully booked tonight, and that is not the reception email. You can move tomorrow'. This seemed the only... More

Booked through Expedia a room with a "Sea View" for 10 nights in September. Upon arrival we are told they are overbooked and are being relocated to one of their sister hotels, the Quinta Das Vistas some 2-3 kms away from the town centre. We don't have a decent room and certainly not one with a sea view as the... More

Great location and beautiful views but seems being run on a shoe string, staff try their best and are pleasant, only have a room overlooking the pool and harbour.Very convenient for some great restaurants, the old town and the market which is well worth a visit.

We have been travelling to Madeira for 8 years and have stayed in quite a few hotels but this was the worst. They appear to have a policy of over-booking (we came across people who had booked and paid months in advance) and then move you to another of their sister hotels which are outside Funchal. If you are travelling... More

The location of this hotel in the old part of town is great and the views over the town and harbour are fantastic. The breakfast is self service and good apart from always running out of cups. The strange remote thing for switching on the lights and aircon seems pointless as other people have mentioned charging your gadgets only works when... More

Booked through a package holiday with Thomas Cook. 26th September – 3rd October. Let’s go with the good points of Quinta Bela Sao Tiago We deliberately chose the old town of Madeira, as the modern Lido area is just like being in any other purpose built holiday area anywhere in the world (no character). Quinta has probably one of the... More

This review is based on our experience of booking and attempting to stay here and the hotels response to some basic questions. Firstly the questions...I emailed the hotel twice before our visit with two simple questions relating to wifi and booking a taxi. They failed to reply which resulted in an international phone call having to be made last minute.... More

Very central but still away from the noise and crowds. The perfect hotel for this city!!! Free wifi, very good breakfast, great room! What else do you ask for?! We really enjoyed the stay! The views from the room and restaurant and breakfast area is great too!
