If you're looking for somewhere to escape the pressures and pace of modern life this is definitely the hotel for you. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming; they made us feel like family for the week. Honoured family in fact as they couldn't do enough. The pool is surrounded by beautiful gardens and homegrown fruit - absolute paradise. The... More

The most friendly and relaxing hotel I've ever stayed in. It is situated in a good position in the old town with loads of really good restaurants close by. Mr Dias and his staff are so friendly and make you feel very welcome. With only 35 rooms, you get to know a lot of the other guests.I would also recommend... More

I'll keep this short and to the point. I have stayed in properties managed by Relais & Chateaux, Belmond, Fairmont, and Ritz Carlton. Mr. Diaz and his staff IS their equal. In fact, his hotel is one better, in that you get all the luxury with an authentic sense of care unmatched by any resort. I too would like to... More

A perfect hotel for us. Quiet and friendly with amazing breakfasts, especially the fruit salads and the omelettes :) The whole staff are committed to ensuring that your stay is the best that it possibly can be. They cannot do enough for you. We stayed on the third floor and had lovely views of the harbour area. The room was... More

From the minute you arrive to a warm welcome, to the minute you leave to a sad farewell, this hotel must be the best ever. It is exquisitely clean. The staff are unobtrusive, just popping up when you need them. Extreme courtesy from everyone including the chambermaids (who are like fairies in and out without being seen!) and the owner... More

Where to start? The warm welcome, the top quality food and drink, friendly staff, minutes from the old town, yet quiet and peaceful .Everything spotlessly clean. There is free WiFi by the pool.Comprehensive choice of food for breakfast. Delicious snacks for lunch. The owner is always on hand to ensure that everything is up to his very high standards. We saw, in... More

We love staying at this hotel. The staff make us feel extremely welcome, and they remembered us since last time we were there, three years ago. They do not have a big breakfast with lots of choices, but the food they have is more than enough to choose from and have a very high quality. The rooms are nice and... More

Spent 7 lovely days staying at this gem of a hotel. The staff are polite, helpful and courteous in the extreme, nothing is too much trouble for them. Fresh flowers are everywhere in reception and the dining room. Our rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily. We had bath robes in our twin room, plus a bidet, small fridge, air... More

As all the other reviewers have said, this really is a lovely gem of a hotel in the Old Town. No complaints whatsoever and would recommend to anyone. Staff very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and fresh. Not having to fight for a lounger round the pool either was a welcome delight. Funchal on the other hand, I wasn't so... More
