Had a week of sunshine before Christmas madness. This hotel is so good, its got to be one of the friendliest ones we've stayed in. Nothing is too much trouble, the owner Mr Dias and his staff are just brilliant. The hotel is nicely positioned in the old town and a stones throw from some fab restaurants and the promenade.... This was our first time in Madeira and it is a beautiful and charming place. Everything about Hotel Dias was wonderful, the Dias family who own the hotel and the Staff are FANTASTIC. Highly recommend this lovely small & friendly hotel. Ideal for couple's, very relaxing, tranquil, charming. I could go on. I am fascinated by lizards and I saw... More

For our last 3 nights in Funchal we booked into the Albergaria Dias. Having spent time staying in the Lido (hotel) section we wanted to experience staying in the Old Town area. The location is excelllent - just out the back gate and within seconds you are right in the heart of the restaurants and shops of Old Town. Also,... More

We love this hotel and return every year. The staff are so pleasant and the hotel is immaculately clean. If you like the large corporate hotels with lots of facilities don't bother but if you want somewhere small and friendly this hotel cannot be beaten. Thank you Snr Dias and staff for another wonderful holiday.

This was our second stay and again we were not disappointed! This hotel really is one of the best, good food and service, lovely setting within the old town but quiet, clean and friendly. No wonder they need you to book in advance!!I also like the fact that it is a small hotel.we upgraded to the suite which has a large balcony... More

A great location in Funchal old town. Friendly, professional, helpful staff who clearly enjoy their work. Comfortable room with fabulous sea and harbour views. A lovely secluded pool surrounded by colourful flowers and plants. Plenty of choice for buffet breakfast. All areas sparkling clean. Plumbing, hot water, air con and sauna working perfectly. I didn't know hotels like this still... More

We loved this hotel, it lives up to previous reviews, I was worried my husband would find walking difficult as its a very hilly island but he managed fine, going out of the back gate of the hotel is a slight incline but you are seconds away from lots of really good restaurants. We hired a taxi recommended by Mr... More

We stayed here in November on the recommendation from friends, and they were so right. The staff were very pleasant and welcomed us. Even Mr. Diaz senior came and shook our hands. The hotel is so convenient for the old town just a short stroll away with all the resturants within easy reach. We have visited Maderia before but stayed... More

A small hotel offering good accommodation with excellent service. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and were happy to share there local knowledge. They were able to book activities for us and this helped our holiday to run smoothly. A nice place to return too at the end of the day with a lovely garden and pool area to relax... More
