Well in anticipation of January being a miserable month was reading The Metro back in October and my partner and I like to do long walks and we were thinking of going to Madeira then "hey presto" there was an article in there about just that thing the very next day - we were obviously meant to go. It said... more

Stayed at Das Vistas for three nights, just to get away from the English weather for a few days. We weren't disappointed. The reception was always helpful ( they stood up everytime you walked through the main entrance which was touching, can't see that happening in England) and they were always there to help. Prices in the Hotel were reasonable,... more

We arrived in the early afternoon and were booked in and shown to our room within 10minutes. The room was a good size, very clean with pleasant decor. Our 'garden view' room had a stunning view over the mountains with a glimpse of the ocean and harbour. The Bathroom was of a very high standard with plenty of towels including... more

My wife and I stayed here for the second time Sept 2008, our first visit being our honeymoon in Sept 2006. Our stay in 2006 was excellent and so we returned this year with our expectations high. I had emailed the hotel to ask for flowers and a bottle of "sparkly" to be placed to the room for our anniversary.... more

My Mother and I stayed here for a week in September in a Panoramic view room. The room was lovely with fabulous views over Funchal very comfortable indeed with a mini bar but no facilities to make tea or coffee which was quite expensive to buy in the hotel. The bed linen was changed daily as were the towels even tho... more

The hotel is in a prime position with good views across Funchal and the surrounding countryside. It's an easy 15 min walk into town but a long climb back - the bus or taxi is a good bet for that. The hotel premises are lovely, very spacious and beautifully furnished. Staff are friendly and efficient. Minor disappointments, I would have... more

My 2 sisters and I stayed in a triple room for 3 nights in February ans would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly - they even parked the car for me when I arrived after a late drive from the airport!! The room was easily big enough for 3 with a king bed and a single,... more

I had a wonderful time at this hotel - so good that I am planning to go again with my parents in March this year. The situation is slightly out of the centre and away from the 'hotel zone' with all its high rise hotel blocks. The views are staggering both by day and night - my 'garden view' room... more

We stayed at Quintas Das Vista during the last week of October. There were a few niggling problem with the hotel. A leaking ceiling on the first floor meant that towels were left to gather up the excess moisture. Our 'suite' was a little over due redecoration, the rooms walls were a little grubby with scuff marks, in some areas... more

We enjoyed our week at the das vistas but were dissappointed by the quality of the restaurant. We tried it twice. The first time was self service scrum , the second they had a large function going on and hotel guests were crammed into a side room with a limited menu and rushed out. he problem then was that we had... more
