Most hotels in Funchal are in the "hotel area" in the west of town. This one however is slap bang in the middle of the old town which saves a lot of walking and taxi rides/buses to the sights. Would agree with other reviewers about this hotel. Good location, spacious room with balcony, very clean and good breakfasts. However we did have a room (401) overlooking the building site of a new apartment block next door. This wasn't a problem to us at the time as it wasn't that noisy but as the apartment goes up it could be.... more
