Bearing in mind that the hotel is 3* rated we found the service, food, quality of accomodation and the cleanliness was excellant and better than some 4* hotels we have stayed in It is situated in pleasant well tended grounds with banana trees, complete with fruit, lining the access road. The free courtesy bus to and from Funchal every hour... More

Apartotel Dorisol Mimosa in Madeira was excellent value for money. Stayed there for 2 weeks end of October 2014. 3 star accom but 4 star service. Suggest bed + breakfast as there are many really excellent restaurants within walking distance of this accomodation. Also breakfast is really substantial - cereals, yogurts, bacon + egg etc as well as fresh fruit.... More

The hotel was not bad for the price. A bit tatty and shabby. The breakfast however was dreadful. Was like a feeding frenzy at the zoo. The food awful with ghastly cold scrambled egg and nasty cheap sausages. The fruit was all tinned fruit. Nothing fresh. The juices were so watered down, it may as well have been water.

Ok the climb up to the entrance was a major challenge, and it is room wise showing it's age. That said the price was a bargain, excellent facilities and not a bad position. The kitchenette did work and some great local produce cooked on two rings despite the totally inadequate utensils. Having to buy a cork screw is unacceptable. (perhaps... More

This hotel is located from walking distance from the centre of Funchal (about 2,5km). But there are also many buses that you can take, if don't feel like walking. There is also a free hotel bus, that goes every hour until 6pm (but I have to tell you that the only time we took this bus, it was over 0,5... More

Reaching this hotel is little tricky like most destinations in Madeira. However once you reach this hotel which certainly looks like apartment you will be blessed with a huge lobby. I say huge because it has a sofa sitting for almost 30-40 people at a time as they entertain guest every evening. Very clean hotel throughout. I did trouble housekeeping... More

We stayed here for a week, the room was clean and well maintained. We had a sea and pool view. We got very fit climbing the steps to the hotel itself and further more by climbing the stairs to our room each time. We were on the 9th floor and there are two small lifts but they are always full!... More

For the money you pay is really great, inside and outside pool, sauna, jacuzzi, buffet breakfast. We book twin room for a week, it has kitchen as well. Room was allocated on 3rd floor with view on the sea, clean and quiet. Staff was helpful and spoke in several languages. Every night hotel organized some activities for guests. Definitely would... We've stayed here four times so far and will probably return. Low-cost accommodation, decent but not inspiring breakfast and a fair view of the sea or the city from every room except those on the bottom floors. On one occasion, we were unhappy with the room (bottom floor, just by the lifts, games room and vending machine) because it was... More

This hotel is great value for your money. The professionals are excellent, very friendly and cater to all your needs. The rooms are pleasant and have a stunning view from the verandas, as well as being well "insonorized". I will definitely repeat the experience, hopefully in the near future. Natasha O.
