We stayed in this hotel on a timeshare. The tariff was just €300 for seven nights for four of us. We frequently used the kitchen which came with the room. We did not use the hotel's dining service as there are excellent restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. The cleaning service is excellent and the staff is helpful and... More

This is a large hotel situated (as the name suggests) in an area known as the Lido area of Funchal. It is a 30/40 minutes easy paced downhill walk into the centre of town and close to the sea. Don't expect a beach nearby, there is a half hour walk to the nearest (black) sandy beach but there is a... More

we stayed for two weeks July / Aug in a timshare room. We didn't use the cooking facilities or the hotel restaurant as there are many restaurant options within a short walk. The room was spacious and airy, the daily room service excellent. The hotel garage is free park your hire car. We used the free shuttle into Funchal to... More

Me & my family stayed at Hotel Alto Lido from 21st July- 28th July 2014. We go on holidays every 2 years and this would be one of our best holidays. The cleaning service was absolutely amazing- apart from a few cockroaches found. The WiFi was strong, the room made me feel like home, the staffs were extremely friendly and... More

We stayed here for a week in July. The rooms are OK but starting to look a bit tired. We were half board but the evening meal the first day was awful, the fish was dry and overcooked, and the vegetables had been done to death. There was only a basic salad as starter and we felt the quality was... More

We chose the hotel as part of a holiday package to Madeira. We had indicated a comment that this was our honey moon as well and we were happy to say that they took the initiative to upgrade our room to a small suite with complimentary bubbly. We stayed there for 7 nights so the extra room of the suite... More

My husband and I have stayed in this hotel at least four times. The last time being from the 11th to the 18th June 2014. The hotel is centrally situated for all amenities, shops, restaurants etc and the walk into Funchal is possible and very pleasant. Buses are frequent and able to take you to most places you would want... More

They were digging up the road in front of the hotel which made access by taxi nigh on impossible. One rude receptionist and lack of privacy in our rooms biased our view of the hotel which otherwise was quite good. Evening entertainment very amateurish especially the dance troupe. Didn't have the high standards and friendliness which we have found in... More

Just come back from a weeks stay at the Alto Lido. First time visit to Madeira. The hotel is well situated with nearby access to a frequent local bus service (every 15 minutes). Our room was spacious and well furnished. As well as the usual which you would expect such as beds, wardrobe etc, there was a setee, coffee table,... More

We were here for a week at Easter 2014, the hotel is exelent taken the price into consideration. The breakfast was good, but did not have much variety. The rooms were clean and kept so throughout our stay, but the service at the reception was really bad. This obviously varies from employee to employee, since there are many here who... More
