We stayed at the Choupana Hills for four nights at the beginning of May. It’s in a fantastic setting, hidden away high up in the hills above Funchal. It has lovely grounds with all types of plants and flowers and it is so peaceful and really beautiful. However, I don’t think it lived up to all the hype we had... More

We stayed in Choupana Hills 2 weeks end of October beginning of November 2011 and experienced just days in paradise. The view from our bungalow overlooking Funchal and the harbour was just great, a dream during the day and at night. The service at the reception, bar and restaurant was very friendly and competent. We especially enjoyed the recommendations of... More

from the hustle and bustle of Funchal, the sea front AND from other guests.. This is what makes this property so inviting. No corridors and lifts to walk through - just fresh air as soon as you open the front door of your bungalow. And yet, there is a hot (and cold) air conditioner in the bed room which can... More

Place is in the hills so does require a 10 minute drive to town though hotel has a shuttle and is happy to drive you around if there is someone free otherwise it's 8 euro cab but worth it in my opinion to get out of the busy town. Thought the place was beautiful with nice restaurant and nice pool... More

This is a true 5 star hotel, apart from the impeccable design of the main house and private bungalows and the facilities, the true 5 star feeling came from the professional staff who went out of their way to make sure we were happy and that all our requests were met. The hotel is situated in the mountains and makes... More

Dear Angela, Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a comprehensive and promotional review! We could use easily use your review for our description on a brochure as you mention all the hotel's recent improvements such as the breakfast buffet with the cooked food a la cart and the new mattresses. We would also like to... More

Stayed 7 nights at this very beautiful resort. I had the most beautiful view over Funchal and the endless sea. Everything worked really well, the personnel is efficient, low key and friendly. My purpose of this trip was to relax and heal after a stressful time. This place was the perfect choice. The service is without delay, the food is... More

My wife and I have just spent five days at the Choupana Hill and we had an unforgettable experience. The hotel is extremely well situated overlooking Funchal. The scenario is just idyllic. The spa, the pools, everything is five stars. The restaurant is an experience that one must not miss. But the staff and their service is one of the best we've... More

Dear Guest, It is a pleasure to read your review and to know that you will always remember Choupana Hills as a very good experience. So you were one of the fortunate guests who had a free upgrade for a suite due to overbooking of sea view rooms... We are happy that you enjoy it! Thank you for your kind... More

Dear Joanna, Thank you very much for your positive feedback. You certainly got a very good promotion for a suite as these type of rooms are the hotel ex-libris... Though now the hotel sales' strategy is different as prices vary according to occupation, so the earliest you book the best deal you get! Thank you for quoting us so well... More

We only had 2 nights at this wonderful hotel in January but really enjoyed ourselves. The rooms are well appointed and the views are magnificent, however, the hotels biggest asset is its staff, they were delightful, friendly, helpful and informative. Nothing was too much trouble and they certainly made our stay perfect. We did do the hotel levada walk and... More

It is always a pleasure to go somewhere peaceful, beautiful and with commanding views..and this place certainly has all of these things. The resort is situated in the hills overlooking Funchal and its harbour. There are two large, but not obtrusive buildings housing reception/spa and restaurant. The accommodation is in semi-detatched bungalows set in landscaped gardens lush with local plants..... More

Dear Guest, It is a pleasure to know that you have rated us within the top 5 of your hotel's choice and rewarding to read your feedback about our staff and location.
