Incredible hotel in an amazing location. Views that need to be seen to be believed. We stayed in the highest suite on site called Goa, where we were greeted on arrival with champagne and chocolates that we enjoyed in our own private Jacuzzi on the deck of our chalet. The manager Ricardo was wonderful and sent up a bottle of... More

View on ocean and Funchal, quiet and beautiful surroundings, fine gastronomy, personal service and advices, kindness of staff (from employees to general manager), comfortable, modern and warm infrastructure.

This was probably the best hotel i've stayed in my entire life, due to the simple fact that we could not find a single flaw in terms of accomodation, service or staff. The restaurant is excellent, with a very well pick wine list, everyone we've come across from the staff team were very friendly and willing to help, the room... More

We stayed in room 25 at the Choupana Hills for a week in July 2014 and were instantly made welcome by the extremely helpful staff, Ricardo (front of house) and Richard in particular had lots of tips and info to help us maximise our time coupled with a great can-do attitude. The room was stunning and the views across Funchal... More

My wife and I stayed at Choupana Hills Resort and Spa for four nights during our honeymoon in Madeira. We were traveling in the off season, and we received a great deal on our stay. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, with stunning views of Funchal and the beautiful Atlantic. Shuttle service to town from the resort was a very nice... More

We stayed at the Choupana Hills resort in July for 10 days. We had a lovely suite (Malaka) with plenty of room space and enjoyed the use of the Jacuzzi bath on the deck. It was relatively quiet at the resort while we were there (early July before the main holidays) and sometimes round the pool there was only us... More

We loved this hotel BUT, and for us it is a very big but, our bed had a plastic undersheet which precluded a decent night's sleep. This very unpleasant feature of hotel rooms is spreading, and I encourage all Tripadvisor reviewers to entitle their reviews as I have when they encounter it: it might just make hoteliers think twice about... Lovely hotel with great views over Funchal. The rooms are large with plenty of storage space and a big veranda looking out to sea and the city. Breakfast is help yourself but they will cook eggs and bacon if requested. Try the lovely pastries which vary day to day. The dinner menu might be limited for a long stay but... More

The service was amazing, highly personalized and made us feel welcome and very well cared for! The General Manager even came personally to greet us and make sure my husband was feeling better (he had a minor migraine from too much sun). The room was perfect, the food was delicious and the Spa was wonderful (one of the best massages... More

Impressive architecture, friendly staff , pleasant food. Beds need replacing as they are worn out. as it is so much cooler than at the coast it would be a nice touch if sauna was automatically switched on mornings and evenings. a change of swimming towels during a lomger stay would be nice too.
