A simple request many months ago about just how regularly the hotels' complimentary shuttle services runs into Funchal resulted in perhaps one of the most luxurious and value for money hotel stays I've experienced in a very long time. The Choupana Hills Resort is a stunning collection of bunglaow styled accomdation based high in the hills above Funchal (about 20... More

I came to Madeira as a 'Surprise Girls Weekend Away', with my oldest and closest friend. The reason I chose Madeira -well it is warmish in winter!! I'm afraid to say I had very limited knowledge of Madeira, and only knew it as the Island with the wine, and the place where cruise liners drop off at.It goes without saying... More

We stayed here for a week in November. The weather is quite mild still, and the sunsets stunning from way up here. The staff made us feel so welcome every single day of our stay, and really went the extra mile to help us arrange for our CityBubbles car hire. We were welcomed with a bottle of bubbly and lovely... My wife and I stayed there for twelve nights and really enjoyed it. The resort is made up of two main buildings and a number of bungalows high above Funchal. The Bungalows are nestled into the hillside and surrounded by beautiful gardens. It was the perfect place for us as we were looking for a quiet place to relax and... More

Had a great time here. Food, Service and facilities were great. Madeira is a real gem and hiking here is fantastic. The views from the hotel in Funchal were amazing. You really need to rent a car here as it gives you the flexibility to discover the entire island.

We greatly enjoyed; The view, Plentiful of different named plants around the hotel grounds, Extremely friendly staff in reception and restaurant., As well as very helpfull management! Also enjoyable are architecturally interesting and attractive facilities. Food in the resturant is culinaristicly excellent and have very good local and Portugese vines. No need to decent to Funchal for Fine Dining! Only... More

My partner and I stayed here in August. The hotel is high up in the hills above Funchal. It has amazing views of the bay and the city below. We were really pleased to be staying up there since it was really easy to get the hotel shuttle into Funchal, but it was so much nicer up in the trees.... More

This place has a killer view with beautiful rooms and lovely large balconies. For a five star hotel though the breakfast is very mediocre, not impressive or five star standard at all. The bathroom and the toilet in the room where separate which I don't mind, but the toilet had a very public toilet feel to it. Clean no doubt,... More

An excellent location (perhaps unique in the whole island). The silence and tranquility prevails throughout the hotel, whether by day or night. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated and with an absolutely stunning view over Funchal (room 60; sea view). The only criticism to make about the room is television (equipment). Although it works perfectly, is a CRT (old technology... More

Stayed here for one night on Friday 10th and loved every second of it (and it was evening raining heavily). Our welcome was warm and nice to meet Ricardo the General Manager. We had room 33 which was simply amazing. My friends had arranged to have a welcome gift for us and there was a nice message with chocolates and... More
