Location wise the hotel is ideal for a leisurely stroll into Funchal (15-20 minutes) to the east or the lido (15 minutes) to the west. It is also conveniently situated for buses travelling along the south coast of Madeira and those heading north into the hills above Funchal. The Quinta itself is a quaint old mansion style house with gardens... More

Chose this hotel as a change from larger ones. This was a big mistake, and a great disappointment. The facilities were meagre to say the least. A kettle was provided in the room but it had to be placed on the floor to boil as the cord did not reach to the table. Two coffee bags, two tea bags, two... More

It's what we would equate to a friendly b and b in uk. It is NEVER a 4 star hotel...dont be duped it would struggle to get 3 in my opinion ... but ...it is charming. The staff in particular Delia (thanks for your Poncho cure!!!) Who always went out of her way to help us. Room attendants first class.... More

Stayed here for a week and enjoyed it a lot. Previously we've stayed in bigger hotels with lots to offer - this doesn't have so much, in that there's no meals other than breakfast to speak of, and wifi is only available in the lounge (and by the pool!), but in many ways it's a warmer and more friendly place.... Quiet, well located, traditional hotel with friendly hard working staff....yes there are downsides like the strong coffee & firm beds, but lots of breakfast choice and comfortable rooms. Wi-fi free (as it should be) worked well in reception and our ground floor room (102). Tea/coffee facility in room would be nice as would a means of getting a drink when... More

If you want a quiet, friendly hotel, centrally based for town and Lido area, this could be it. Sighted near to Reed's Hotel, this small converted manor house has heaps of (slightly faded) charm. It was spotlessly clean, being scrupulously dusted and vacuumed from top to bottom every day, which may account for why the carpet outside our room was... More

Had a lovely weeks stay at the Perestrello from the 12th October. Have stayed once before last year. wanted somewhere we knew. This time we stayed in the old Manor house. Had room 310 which had a lovely location with windows front & side looking over both Funchal & the hotel pool. As with most of the Hotel room was... More

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Jorge who was on breakfast and lunch duty. Room 309 was large, airy and comfortable. Lovely furniture, even on the landings with subdued lamps. We were in the original house. Near a road but traffic doesn't start until about nine, even then it wasn't too noisy, we overslept twice! Breakfast was good, OK the toaster... More

This is a quaint old house with a modern addition. We stayed in the old house in room 310. This is a large room with high ceilings, three large windows, which give a great view of the pool, the sea and the town. The wood floors are wonderful. Ok I agree it does show it's age, but to me that... More

We stayed at this hotel for a week in October and it was lovely. Very clean, good pool, excellent staff. The hotel does have some traffic noise, but nothing unbearable. Breakfasts were wonderful with lots of fresh bread, cheeses and meats, fresh fruits and juices and hot food for those who wanted it. The snacks offered for the rest of... More
