We have been to Madeira several times and usually stay at the Porto Santa Maria, but we decided to sneak off for a quick and cheap week away so booked the Quinta Perestrello, an excellent decision. The staff were very friendly and by the end of the week I felt as though I would miss them. We had a room... More

We were staying next door on the Quinta up-hill, and were intrigued by "happy hour", so we checked out a really quaint, smart, and very tidy little hotel. Basil Fawlty, it ain't.!! The guy on reception Jorges, really helpful and Simone on bar, can't do enough for you. Enjoyed a cocktail or a beer, to watch the sun set on... More

We had a very good week at the Quinta Perestrello. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Plenty of information available in the lobby about local buses , levada walks and day trips , and the reception staff were happy to offer help with booking and finding way around Funchal. Wifi in reception was free and there is also a... More

We really liked this smaller hotel, not really liking the big concrete block hotels. Quinta means "manor house" and the building is older and has more character than a modern block. It is cosy rather than trendy, and the staff are really helpful and friendly. The room was very comfortable and the standard of cleaning was excellent, with frequent changes... More

We really enjoyed staying here as it offered everything we like about a hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient, also unobstrusive: the snack foods available were always well presented and good value: the happy hour too was well worth it. Our room on the lower floor led directly onto the garden and pool area but it was quiet... More

If you are looking for a quite relaxing hotel this is ideal, but the place is a little dated. The beds in our room ( Twin beds ) constantly creaked and groaned when you moved. The hotel also had trouble keeping up with the food at breakfast, they ran out of most items and you had to keep asking for... More

We arrived for a fortnight in September 2013 and were immediately struck by the colonial style building and polished wooden floors, so much nicer than the modern souless hotels. The room was on the garden level across the lawn from the pool and was comfortable and quiet: no noticable noise from the street. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and tasty and... More

My forst visit and nice not to be in a big chain hotel. Much of what others have said is correct it is a "character" property but slightly frayed in places but nothing that would put me off returning. If you like soft mattresses forget it these are firm and for me that's how i like it but it won't... More

Clean and tidy Hotel well located for restaurants etc. All the staff work hard and are pleasant however the décor in places is in need of updating, threadbare carpets for example, the pillows supplied are not in the least comfortable and need replacing. Noise from the road can be a problem. The breakfasts although adequate are nothing special and can... More
