This hotel has more or less all you can wish for: spectacular views, pool and spa, billiard and bar, fine restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, lovely garden for walks and quiet (though not so spectacular) rooms all with balcony etc. Furthermore we got a cheap offer for the night so why not five stars? Because in spite of all this... More

The original quinta building of this hotel is beautiful but is underused - apart from reception. We liked our room, which was spacious with a large balcony overlooking the garden and Funchal and the sea beyond. We could have happily spent hours on it, but had too many other things to cram into our visit. The bathroom was also large... More

On approach the hotel looks lovely. More effort is being made with the gardens than the interior. The setting is beautiful as are the views. The hotel is furnished with antiques and other traditional furniture giving a warm feel to the place. Unfortunately it is all just tired, like the home of a house proud but hard up elderly relative.... More

I love Madeira and I've been back to that lovely island every year for the last 10 years for a final vacation week in late September. I have heard the rumours about The Charming Hotels Group and tried to avoid them after a visit last year to Quinta das Vistas. But when the discounted price for theirs Quinta do Monte... More

Overall good, but certainly not a 5 stars. We got the booking in a travel package so we didn't paid the standard room fee; in that sense, the hotel was cheap. However, the standard fee is way too expensive - this is a nice hotel, clean enough, goof staff, nice services, but it is a 3+ stars at most by... More

We had lunch at the outdoor cafe. The desserts were excellent ( home made cakes) and great soup but the toasties were mediocre. I had a seafood one but it was just made of formed crabstix! Great view and friendly service and, in fairness, waiter did try and talk me out of the seafood toastie!

Arrived very hot and probably looking disreputable after a long walk. Receptionist was delightful, and quickly checked us in. Our luggage had arrived before us and had been taken up to our room. I was quite worried about this part of our Madeira trip after reading the review posted by dk2822. Can only say we saw that the pool walkway... More

We decided to have our lunch at Quinta do Monte as it looked like a very nice hotel and presumably had good service and food. We were partly wrong. After being ignored for 10-15 minutes after sitting down at the table, the waiter decided to pay us some attention. I could have accepted that if only the place had been... More

Great location, but this is a pretty crummy hotel which does not merit its 5 star status. Except for the rooms in the old manor house, it has been allowed to deterioriate and is now in a state of disrepair. The carpets in the bedroom corridors are stained, the pool ceiling is coming down, and the covered outside walkway is... More

Ideally located for various attractions in Monte. I was staying at the HPB property at Cabo Girao and some other guests had been to Quinta do Monte and recommended it, I looked it up on trip advisor and thought it was worth a look. Easy to find by following the road signs (hang in there, bit round the houses due... More
