Our first stay in Madeira so choice of hotel was a bit pot luck - but it didn't disappoint. Beautiful grounds and very quiet away from the centre of Funchal, but with great views. Food was excellent and the staff were wonderful both in the restaurants and at reception - nothing was too much trouble. What a fab holiday -... More

We stayed here for ten days at end of February, to relax after a hectic few months, choosing this over sea front hotel. It did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived the staff could not have done more for us, quietly courteous and attentive. We had a half board option which gave us an evening meal in the restaurant... More

This hotel is set in its own beautifully maintained grounds in the foothills just behind Funchal, about 30 minutes by taxi from the airport. We stayed for a week in early February on a half board basis. From the warm welcome on arrival to the genuine "goodbye, please come again" on departure, the hotel was everything we could have wished... More

Quinta da Bela Vista is set in the hills above Funchal and has all the facilities expected of a 5* hotel. It's location is great for those seeking peace and quiet - but also means that you need transport to go anywhere. You can walk down into Funchal but takes about 30 minutes but the hotel does provide a courtesy... More

This was truly a holiday for us: the hotel buildings stand in beautifully tended grounds full of exotic plants and trees, and the whole place is tranquillity itself, overlooking the bay of Funchal but away from the busier centre. The staff are quietly attentive and courteous, anticipating our needs and wants, but unobtrusive - the service is of a very... More

Quinta da Bela Vista comprises 3 buildings set in beautiful grounds plus a poolside bar. Each of the buildings is spacious and furnished with elegant furniture and interesting paintings. We were on a bed and breakfast rate but chose to eat in the poolside bar every evening as well. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The staff were... More

We stayed on a B&B basis during the first week of Feb 2015. The hotel is, as has been described before, very much colonial, old world, calm and serene. The staff are simply magnificent and nothing is too much trouble. Our room, 326, above the reception, was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a good view. However the lush trees... We have just returned from our third stay at this lovely hotel and once again it didn't disappoint. The staff were as lovely as ever, unobtrusive but caring and friendly, the food delicious and once again the chef went out of his way to provide us with lovely vegetarian dishes. The gardens are beautiful and everything makes for a very... More

Having just returned from Funchal one can appreciate the temperature difference between UK and Madeira. By the end of our week "chilling out" we were beginning to realise that they do have a winter but in reality 4 out of the 5 days were warm enough to chill out by the pool. Indeed the pool itself was a chilly experience,... More

Great hotel, staff very helpful and pleasant. The Quinta is a lovely old house, public rooms are filled with antiques and beautiful carpets. Bedroom had a panoramic view, looked freshly decorated, fresh fluffy towels & crisp sheets every day. Flowers in our room on arrival. All very welcoming. Food was of excellent quality, and gf food for hubby was not... More
