My girlfriend and I have just come back from Madeira and we really enjoyed our stay in the Bela Vista. I don't want to be too effusive in my praise but the hotel is absolutely class leading in its standards of service and the quality of its facilities. The botanical gardens that surround the hotel are beautiful and there's a... more

Quinta da Bela Vista provides a capsule of timeless taste for the discerning visitor. Discrete, friendly and attentive staff of the highest calibre; first class food and table service; relaxing grounds and a thoroughly peaceful ambience that very few (modern) hotels can even begin to replicate. My wife and I left thoroughly refreshed and relaxed after a first class week.... more

The hotel is well located on a hill not far from the center of Funchal. You can see part of the bay of Funchal and the sea from the hotel's swimming pool and gardens. The hotel has three buildings and rooms in all three, however, rooms in the main building and the old original house are the best. If you... more

Quiet location situated within its own large gardens with views of mountains and the bay . Our room on the 2nd floor which was clean and comfortable, had beautiful views . The restaurant in the Manor House offers exceptional food ,service and ambience. Equally as important are the staff. They are friendly and efficient whilst being professional. We have never... more

If you want a quiet retreat and somewhere to chill out and be pampered the Bela vista will more than fit your requirements. All the people we have recommended to visit here have gone back again - this has got to say something about the place and its staff. Of all the hotels we have visited in the world (And... more

It was our first time in Madeira and we loved every minute of it. We travelled with my wife's parents and one of them is a coeliac sufferer so we were anxious about the food, but there was no need. The hotel staff were magnificent from the receptionists to the head waiter and his team. They were so helpful in... more

First some negative points: Dated rooms, espacially the toilet and bathroom wich produced a strange smell throughout the room.(sup. room) Balcony needed to be painted, the paint was coming off the walls. Windows of the restaurant of the main building were dirty when we arrived and not cleaned during our ten day stay. Positive: Location, very good a la carte... more

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff extremely helpful. Choice of restaurants within the hotel both offering very high quality catering. Everywhere very clean and well-tended. Secluded grounds, set above the town. Be prepared for a healthy walk, to the centre or take the bus or taxi. (You can get an advance bus ticket for 5 journeys more cheaply... more

We can only describe the 'Quinta da Bela Vista' as a gem in the crown of Madeira. Our room (second floor superior) had great views over the splendid gardens and too the ocean beyond. The room met our expectations. The restaurants offered well presented and perfectly prepared food with some excellent local and international wines at reasonable prices. The staff... more

The staff were just so helpful and with the setting of the buildings and gardens and pool -made the overall experience one of our best short holidays ever. The classic european/portugese cuisine was expertly cooked and presented. If there was more choice per course in the table d'hot menu then that might encourage more take up . Mini fridges in... more
