A very nice budget 3 star hotel in a quiet street no more than 10-15 minutes walk from all the central attractions; the public areas have a subtle '60's. Room was clean and everything worked, for a small extra charge, specify a room with a balcony. (For when it gets a bit warmer) there is a terrace and swimming pool... More

Normally we try not to stay at anything less than four star hotels (this experience has made us rethink), but as it was our first time on the island, we were on a week end break and we wanted to have somewhere close to the old town. Our first impression of the hotel was that it was clean but a... More

We spent 3 nights here as part of a walking group and were very impressed - the staff are pleasant and helpful, the rooms are clean, and those facing the street had a small balcony. The rooftop terrace with loungers and clean pool was a great bonus, with views to sea and across the town. A large supermarket is just... More

This was the fourth time of visiting the Hotel do Carmo and each time we have seen improvements to the hotel. This time we were very impressed to see the refurbishment of the rooftop swimming pool which now looks amazing. From this vantage point you can see a panaramic view of Funchal, the mountains and the port with visiting cruise... More

hotel is situated in a great spot very close to the market and the old town , which has an array of good fish restaurants. The hotel is spotlessly clean , and very good value for money. The hotel also has extremely friendly staff, who made us feel very welcome . The rooms all have a theme to them with... More

Very friendly staff.Excellent value for money.Good breakfast. No wifi in rooms. The hallway carpet is very worn. The room had no mini fridge. The rooftop pool was clean, but the bathroom and the sauna was closed.Otherwise, a beautiful view of the city and harbor.

Just spent a week in this hotel, it may not be amongst the elite hotels of Madeira but it is in such a great position. It is approx. 10 mins walk to the old town where all the good restaurants are, 10 mins walk to the centre of Funchal and 2 mins to the shops. The rooms are quite basic... More

Hotel is located in city center and is close (5..10 min walk) to bus stops of all 3 major bus companies. It gives option to wake up early (breakfast starts 7:30) and catch morning bus to the levadas and other trails. While its breakfast quality (taste) could be better and rooms is bit worn down, its very clean, has nice... More

Excellent value for money, just remember this hotel is cheap and bang in the the middle of the city. In a back street but central. A little tired in places but hides behind a sixties theme. good for one or two nights. Rooms are small. Wifi excellent in bar area, very friendly staff.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this hotel accept that the staff were friendly and breakfast good, so was with trepidation that we booked the hotel. Well what can I say, we were more than pleased with the whole 'Do Carmo' experience. On arrival a refreshing drink was waiting for us; our room was lovely and clean and Marilyn Monroe... More
