It started with a good service during the reservation of the hotel. We have a room with seaview and the harbor of Funchal where cruise ships arrived during our stay. The staff is very helpfull in many languages. Rich breakfast in open air with a good service. We choose for B & B because there are a lot of small... More

We had selected this hotel having seen it on a previous visit and we not disappointed. Quite superb in every way. Staff friendly and so helpful, facilities excellent, location excellent, restaurant excellent, we could not fault it, only the weather (May 2012)

We chose this hotel for our Golden Wedding Anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place. On our arrival we were given a vase of flowers and a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. The hotel is spotlessly clean - I defy anyone to find a speck of dust anywhere. We were given a room on the second floor... More

My wife has wanted to visit Madeira for years, partly due to her great interest in flowers and gardens. We have just returned from a week’s stay at the Porto Santa Maria, what can I say, it is a fabulous hotel, all the staff were very friendly and hard working, the flower decoration in the lobby are fantastic, as are... This was our second visit to Porto Santa Maria. The hotel is very comfortable and smart, the staff are very helpful, friendly and efficient. The buffet breakfast is excellent, a huge choice and well-stocked. The small kitchen with fridge is very handy for snacks. We did not have dinner at the hotel but ate lunch at the pool several times... More

just arrived home after a wonderful two week stay at this excellent hotel which is ideally situated in the old town of Funchal very near to the cable car and lovely walks along the promanade and marina. Hotel food good but a little repetative, the staff very friendly and helpful as is the service at the captains bar. Housekeeping of... More

We have fancied a trip to Madeira for some time and chose this hotel because of it's location, in our opinion the best hotel location in Funchal - no hills to climb, in the Old Town with so many restaurants to pick from we were spoiled for choice, close to taxi ranks, bus station, cable car, shops etc. It would be... Just got back from a week's stay in this excellently positioned hotel. We had a ground floor room with a gate that opened out onto a pathway that led to the pool area. This was also a shorter way to go to the restaurant which helped my husband who couldn't walk very far. The staff were hard working and helpful.... More

This hotel is in a great location, within easy (flat) walking distance of buses, shops, cable car, a great selection of restaurants. The majority of hotels in Funchal are at the other side of town on the hill and a bus ride away from the town centre. Although this hotel is in the town, it is in a quiet situation at... More
