apartment has gone downhill since last year. carpets dirty, toaster damaged, bath damaged, dining chair seat badly stained plus several other minor problems. a lot of the place needs renovating which we were told is due to staert in january. this is to include all rooms but no one would put a time limit on the work. Desite these difficulties and almost a... more
The hotel is situated near Funchal which is easily accesed by local transport or a free bus from hotel every half hour. Tha apartment was comfortable & cleaned with beds made every day. Drinks & food expensive but of good quality, there is a bar where the locals go a short distance away but it means climbing what we called... more
My husband and I stayed in this hotel in August 2008 when we were traveling around Madeira. I liked the hotel very much. Friendly staff, gorgeous breakfast with variety of fruits and pastry, relaxing atmosphere, clean rooms - there is nothing I could complain about and I'm a very picky guest. more
My husband and I stayed between 8th June & 22nd. June. This was our first experience of Madeira and stayed at the Regency Palance through an exchange with our timeshare company. We found all members of staff to be very helpful and always ready to to give us any information we asked. You gotta try the little cafe across from... more
Stayed in lots of five star hotels and this hotel comes no where near the standard, to claim the five stars it says it is. Yet it charges five star prices. You get none of those added luxuries like slippers, body wash, sewing kits and hair conditioner etc., only cheap shampoo and bath gel OH not forgetting a shower cap.... more
5 Star - not on your life, one can only guess why the hotel seam to have two names! Full review on my travel pod blog at http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-entries/rstamp/2/1235991240/tpod.html This hotel shows a decided lack of attention to detail and without a doubt that the concept of a quality hotel is beyond their understanding and this traveler would not recomend it... more
We were happy to do a 'flexiclub' for four weeks. This was just about right. because there are no budget flights (air fair £300 pp) and when you are 70 you don't want to go to the same place annually. The staff are efficient but can be a little 'po' faced. A great place for us older people but children... more
We stayed at the Regency Palace 18th - 25th May. This was our second trip to beautiful Madeira and we enjoyed the flora & fauna just as much as the first visit. Our holiday was a week's timeshare swap booked some time ago - the Regency Palace being the only hotel available at the time. To put the record straight... more
Took my elderly mother to this hotel for a break last week and she thoroughly enjoyed it. So did I. It made me feel young again as I was probably the only person in the hotel under 70!! SAGA tours ( plus German versions of Saga tours) and elderly timeshare owners made up over 80% of the guests. Absolutely nothing... more
