I agree with other reviewers that this hotel has not been maintained and now we know why. We stayed during the period when the staff were notified that they would be out of work as from the end of June unless a miracle happens but from their behaviour you would not have known. They continued to smile and be helpful... More

I booked a week's holiday here through onthebeach.co.uk to start on 26th June. I made the booking back in March. I wouldn't normally check trip advisor so near to a holiday but something made me do it today - thank goodness I did, as I learned that the place is closing down on 30th! Erm....thanks for taking our money and... More

The staff were lovely , position outside funchal good especially if you enjoy walking along coastal routes. The hotel was a lot better than we expected although I would recommend you take your own hairdryer as the fitted one was pretty weak. Also a travel kettle would be handy for a brew in the morning! We were advised though that... More

The hotel is very welcoming in a picturesque location but after a few days you will soon discover that the entire island is very boring with little to do especially for families or nightlife seekers, the staff aren't incredibly helpful when it comes to finding things to do (unless its an expensive excursion). The rooms are very nice despite the... More

We have just spent a wonderful week in this lovely hotel. However, I am concerned to see it is still taking bookings for July onwards when it is closing at the end of June! Therefore anyone booking online needs to check very carefully before confirming flights etc.

This hotel is in a lovely setting. The outside of the building and the attractive gardens are immaculately kept. The interior is clean and mostly comfortable but can only be described as having a faded grandeur. Most of the carpets and upholstery are badly in need of refurbishment. The staff members we dealt with had good English and were pleasant... More

This was our second stay at this lovely hotel (built in 1999) - 2 weeks this time. It's not a flashy hotel but is designed extremely well with relaxing terraces where you can sit amongst the palm trees and watch the Koi in the ponds or just read a book. The swimming pools are immaculate and there is a very... More

An impressive hotel on the outskirts of Funchal in a cliff-top location, above the Praia Formosa beach and set in attractive gardens. With easy access to the city by courtesy bus or regular bus service from the adjacent bus stop (until around midnight) the location is quiet but convenient, the airport bus also stops outside. The entrance lobby and public... More

Well, Regency Palace is not a brand new hotel, at places it may not be up to the expected 5* standards but still it is a very pleasant place to stay. The only drawback was that the room was not as big as advertised. We had booked a double standard which was supposed to be 40-42 sq.m. but in reality... More
