Everything is within easy walking distance of this very modern hotel situated in the heart of Funchal. For someone like us, who generally stay in good but fairly traditional European hotels, its design is cutting edge. Once you've mastered everything, particularly the electrics, the room works well. Soundproofing within the building is good so that you are unaware of other... More

Lovely pool and adjacent bar with fabulous views of the city and a really chilled out atmosphere. Lovely through the day but also a great place to start and finish your evening as they offer cocktails during two happy hours. Staff very friendly and efficient, breakfast nice, room comfortable and in a great location as is actually in Funchal so... More

A great place- to stay on Madeira- perhaps in a bit of an unusual setting in a corner of a multipurpose modern building comprising mall, office and apartment block situated on the edge of downtown Funchal Advantages are that you will be in the middle of town rather than in the hotel zone or hotel “ghetto” where all other top... The room was lovely, clean and stylish. We travelled with our 6 month old son and the cot and bedding provided was very nice. They made high chairs available for him at the restaurants and were every friendly. Also as I am on a dairy free diet, the hotel were very helpful with providing options. Best if all was we... More

My wife and me have decided not to tell anyone how good this hotel is, why, because if we do we may be full when we want to book. So please do not book and let just the few of us who have found this fantastic hotel enjoy it on our own.

Probably the most high-tech room that we have ever stayed in, but the shower stil leaked all over the floor ! . Otherwise a great room. Complimentary soft drinks and beers in the fridge were much appreciated........something most other hotels could learn from. The rooftop terrace and heated pool was fine , but unfortunately rather windy when we were there.... More

Firstly, I need to say that the staff at this hotel were supremely excellent. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. However, the design of the room in which we stayed was uncomfortable and bizarre! Clearly the designer has had fun with this - but not with the guests in mind. Very high tech lighting system but no comforts. The shower had a... More

We chose The Vine because we wanted to be near the harbour, on fairly flat ground and in the centre of things. The Tripadvisor reviews helped too. From before we arrived we were impressed by the efficiency of the reception team as they emailed us detailed instructions on the route from the airport and the parking arrangements. Our room was... This a lovely hotel in a fairly central position from where you can start every day's adventures - the décor is very special and we have not experienced anything quite like it anywhere in the world I have to say that we were a little apprehensive about staying over the top of a large shopping complex and supermarket, but it... This is one of the best hotels I have ever stopped in. Comparable with other 5-star hotels around Europe. Clean with smart modern decor. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Chill out on the roof top terrace by the pool, with a drink over looking the city. Free welcome drink on arrival . Only 5 minutes walk down to... More
