This hotel is like marmite you'll love it or hate it! Modern designer feel over practicality and function. Nevertheless, staff are attentive and friendly and are always willing to try to make you stay here the best experience possible. The controls for the room need a little getting used to, but are not impossible. The location is ideal for those... More

The hotel accommodation staff and restaurants are fantastic and worth the money. Be careful thou as you could stay in the hotel and not eat out. This would be a mistake as you can eat for 39 euros for a 3 course with wine at the likes of Mozart restaurant in the old town. This is almost michelin star for... More

We stayed in the Vine for two weeks in September and we had a lovely holiday. The hotel is good but as many other reviewers have said it's a little bit 'form over function'. The rooms are dark, even with all of the lighting on (that is if you can figure out the electrics!). The bathrooms are ridiculously impractical and... More

The Vine Hotel is a great hotel. Teresa and Charles who looked after us were always friendly, smiling and professional. The room was very comfortable - the only downside was it was a little dark but apart from that it was lovely. The roof top swimming pool and bar were very welcome after a days sightseeing. The breakfast was fantastic... More

Comfortable and modern hotel. Rooms extremely high standard. Beds a bit hard but everything else a fun and exquisit experience. Love the friendly and positive staff. Hard to do make up in the 'black' mirrors. Small balcony no chairs. Otherwise almost a five star. Can recommend this to younger couples.

We visited Madeira during the first week of August. Our entire trip was wonderful. The Vine hotel is beautiful, we loved everything about it and would definitely go back. Our room - nice size, lovely modern decor, beautiful facilities (waterfall shower, huge tub bath), lovely view over the outdoor breakfast area. Staff were extremely helpful and could not have done... We normally stay in more traditional hotels, but the Vine is by far the best location for the old town with all the sights, restaurants and cafes. As soon as we arrived at reception any doubts we may have had about the style of the hotel were dispelled. The lounge, downstairs bar and breakfast area are an oasis of calm... More

The hotel is located in the heart of Funchal and has a nice roof pool terrace and a spa. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. We got an upgrade to an executive room at check in, so I don't know how the standard rooms are, but I presume they will have same level of... More

First of all, we haven't stayed in a hotel quite like the Vine. It's situated on top of a shopping complex, but once you take the lift up to the hotel reception you're in a totally different world!! Very stylish & elegant. The room we had was incredible. Very spacious & had all the mod conns. If James Bond was... More

We have just returned following our second stay at this exceptional hotel in beautiful Funchal. After an initial hiccup with our room on arrival I was met by Theresa the hotel manager who resolved the problem immediately upgrading our room to a junior suite it was our 30th wedding anniversary and we received a lovely cake and some sparkling wine...
