Reception staff very helpful. Buffet evening meal not worth the cost but A la carte restaurant better value for money. Shuttle bus into town stops at 6pm so taxi needed after meal out in evening. Beautiful views from hotel and nice pools. Had to request coffee making facilities as stated FOC on jet2 website but these were then provided.

The hotel is ideally located and the service is perfect. Staff is extremely friendly and I would recommend this place for his excellent location, rooms and nice personal. I wish I can come back soon to Madeira. Ideal location, everything is within walking distance.

I'm reluctant to write this review, as I wanted t keep it a secret for myself. Really selfish, but if you stay there you will understand my rational. Fantastic stay. This is a quality hotel with really lovely gardens, equal to the botanical ones. Food and staff cannot be faulted. Plenty of sun beds that are arranged around a pool that is very welcoming. If their is the slightest niggle that is dinner is a set menu, a choice would be nice. But in no way should this put you off, as the food is delicious. Go on give it a go. You won't be disappointed. Thank you to all the staff for a great place to stay.

Just got back from a weeks holiday at the Enotel Lido, in Funchal. Cannot find any fault with the hotel, food was very good especially enjoyed the themed Italian restaurant and the local Maderian food. Champagne for breakfast is a real treat. The room was spacious, spotless, with the bed linen changed three times whilst we were there. Small fridge with water and soft drinks in our room, large bathroom and spacious wardrobe. Free safe. Staff were so friendly and polite and always willing to help. The only drawback if you are not so active is that it takes 40 mins to walk into Funchal and is quite hilly, otherwise a pleasant walk. Funchal is lovely, clean gorgous parks and architecture. The shops are super and not too expensive. The market where you can buy the most exoctic flowere, plants and see all kinds of unusual fruit and vegetable and fish, is definately worth a visit. The waterfront unfortunately is being updated since the floods 3 years ago so looks like a building site, but plenty of other places to visit. The outdoor swimming pool is heated and was 30degrees, very clean and well kept. We travelled with Mercury Direct and could not fault the service, collected from Airport by taxi and friendly rep. Would definately recommed both Funchal and the Enotel Lido…

Hotel Madeira stands overlooking a small exotic park, which is full of beautiful flowers and trees, the park also has a small open air theatre a bar and cafe which is permantly full of locals coming and going creating a great people watch location. Most rooms in the hotel face south toward the sea the fourth floor being the best for views with the rooftop terrace one floor above which also has a small swimming pool, everything in the hotel is well kepted and maintained with the rooms cleaned daily. The bar is run by joseph who will make you the best ponche on the island. Breakfast is no great shakes but will keep you going until you can cross the road to the park where you will get a good cup of coffee.

Stayed for a week at the Madeira Hotel, Rua Ivens in the centre of Funchal. No more than 10 minutes from all the tourist amenities, cable car, tourist office, harbour, shops and restaurants, local market etc. Excellent helpful receptionists. Free internet access to use if you are courteous and don't try to mess with it. Breakfast very plain and simple but the bread was delicious. Comfortable room with small balcony and views to the mountains. Recommended.
