Old fashion "quinta" very interesting and full of history of a family; comfort to be improved as the whole enviroment is located in a beautiful and peaceful location with large garden and good size swimming pool.

Though, around Sintra, there are many 'quintas' (historic rural properties with an old and beautiful mansion at the centre), this is the only one I know that is open to the public (to stay). This particular house appears as half family home and half hotel, a combination that works well because of the welcome extended to the guests and the... More

Warning :) - Don't arrive at night. This is an old rebuilt farm. The decoration are good, are a very quite place where you can smoothly rest. The breakfast is divinal. Now the bad things. The access is very poor (I advise to go with a 4x4 :)). If you arrive at night, like me, at first you will think... More

This beautifull property is in a secluded location. If you want quietness and an amazing view into Sintra's forest then this is your place. If you love places with their history and a personalized experience don't miss this place. Having a car is fundamental and better if it is rented as the road is in a bad shape with lot's... More

This is one of the most unique places i have ever stayed at. 16th century home complete with marble / stone staircases, antique furniture, huge library (with passageway to the chapel !). Large outdoor swimming pool and gardens overlooking a forested valley. Gorgeous part of the world ! Lots of historical builldings in the area (the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace... More

My husband and I first stayed here 20 years ago for our honeymoon. We have just returned from a two night stay in June 2013 for our anniversary. The Quinta is still owned by the same family and we were upgraded from a standard room to a suite free of charge. As we're both vegetarians we had asked about dinner... More

This Quinta which is a bed and breakfast for people who don't know what a quinta is is out of the way and not easy to find or to get to. It took us at least an hour to find and we had to drive on a road which was only wide enough for 1 vehicle. This road was steep... More

My best friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a few days seclusion, we planned to relax and recouperate in the quiet surroundings. Unfortunately, 'Madam' had other ideas..... the first piano recital was magical, but we did feel slightly bullied into touristy visits, she even pursuaded a German couple to take us to a random town 40mins drive away.... Not recommended if you do not have a vehicle. This rural accommodation is 20/15 mins by taxi from the railway station/centre of old Sintra town. Bus service is available but the bus stop is 10 mins walk from the quinta, requiring a walk down a track unsuitable for luggage with wheels, unlit at night and barely accessible to vehicles. Taxi... We are really surprised to see that many nice reviews... I guess it is a matter of opinion. The graden, pool and view are really nice. The house it very old, not in the best shape, has rather scary decor - very dark with closed windows, heads broken of older statures, huge artificial flowers which seem to be covered with... More
